Annual shipment of 100,000 can be reduced by 1/3?
On the premise that performance is often better than 2D machine vision, price is still the main obstacle to the promotion of 3D machine vision.
A well-known fact in the industry is that at present, 2D vision is divided by Haikang and Huarui, and the TOP2 market share is about 50%. Due to the price competition between the two powers for many years, the unit price of 2D vision has been pressed to close to the “floor price”.
Therefore, the development of 3D machine vision, to a certain extent, faces the challenge of 2D extreme cost performance.
Yuan Qiang, general manager of Shenzhen Kangstar, told reporters that 3D vision has an average annual growth of more than 60% in 2020 and 2021, but the growth rate has disappeared or even declined slightly in 2022. In terms of price, the price reduction of 3D vision controllers in the past two years is about 50%, and it is expected that there will be a market size of about 20,000 to 30,000 pieces this year.
In Yuan Qiang’s view, whether the industry will continue to reduce prices in the future depends on market demand and technological progress.
Yang Tao pointed out that the price reduction of 3D vision also depends on the landing of various fields. As the number of applications increases and the cost performance of using 3D vision increases, the price will fall.
“I think the annual shipment of more than 100,000, can bring a huge reduction in costs,” Yang Tao said.
Yuan Qiang also supports Yang Tao’s view. In his view, 100,000 shipments can reduce the price of 3D vision to one-third of the current.
“With better performance and technical solutions, there is still room for prices to continue to fall, and only in this way can the industry’s shipments exceed 100,000 units,” Yuan Qiang pointed out.
In terms of promoting the landing of 3D visual scenes, various head companies also have their own views.
Obi Zhong Lianghong pointed out that the current problem that the industry needs to solve is to continue to improve the adaptability of the scene, because the scene faced by the robot is very complex, but also to better integration, so that customers can better use.
Yang Tao said that 3D vision algorithms can meet the needs of customers with different workpieces, small batches, multiple varieties, and flexibility, which will become the key to whether the current industry can continue to expand its share.
