Since the beginning of this year, the growth of the equipment manufacturing industry in the three Northeast provinces has been remarkable:
In the first half of this year, Liaoning Province’s pillar industry equipment manufacturing industry, the added value increased by 12.6%, 17 percentage points higher than the same period last year.
In the first five months, the growth rate of the added value of the equipment manufacturing industry in Jilin Province reached 22.6%. In particular, driven by the construction of the “land scenery Three Gorges”, new energy equipment manufacturing enterprises have developed rapidly.
In the first five months, the added value of Heilongjiang’s equipment industry grew by 9.5%, of which the output value of Harbin’s railway, ship, aerospace and other transportation equipment manufacturing industry increased by 25.5% year-on-year.
The equipment manufacturing industry is an important support for stabilizing the industrial market, and its growth plays an important role in promoting the overall good development of the Northeast economy. The rapid growth of the equipment manufacturing industry in the three northeastern provinces is a vivid footnote to the old industrial bases to promote transformation and upgrading and strive to build a modern industrial system.
Only when you have a deep foundation can you accumulate
China’s first diesel locomotive, the first jet aircraft, the first 10,000-ton ship… With a hundred years of industrial development history, Northeast China has become one of the national key construction of equipment manufacturing industry in the beginning of the founding of New China.
In the new era, relying on a huge team of skilled workers and a strong industrial base, a number of major countries such as the first domestic aircraft carrier, the main compressor of the transonic wind tunnel, and the pressure vessel of the “Hualong One” nuclear reactor have been launched here.
“Some ships are already scheduled to be delivered until 2027.” Since the beginning of this year, the team led by Jiang Hongliang, director of the production management department of Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Group Co., Ltd. under China State Shipbuilding Group, has been non-stop, “The most important reason for customers to choose us is the strong product and technology accumulation.”
“The equipment manufacturing industry is capital intensive, technology intensive, labor intensive, not only requires a lot of investment, and the production process depends on technology and intelligence elements much more than other industries.” Liaoning Academy of Social Sciences vice president Liang Qidong said.

As an old industrial base, the three northeastern provinces have complete categories of equipment manufacturing industry. Take Heilongjiang Province as an example. Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, this province has provided one-third of the country’s complete sets of power plant equipment and half of its railway trucks.
On a heavy basis, the three northeastern provinces continued to improve the planning and layout of high-end equipment manufacturing.
Liaoning has taken the special action for the development of advanced manufacturing clusters launched this year as an opportunity to develop 22 key industrial clusters such as integrated circuits, aviation equipment, CNC machine tools and new energy vehicles.
While consolidating and expanding the advantages of traditional equipment manufacturing industry, Jilin has also strengthened and enlarged the new energy equipment industry chain integrating wind power machines, motors, blades, energy storage and other equipment.
Heilongjiang strives to build advanced manufacturing clusters such as nationally important advanced electric power equipment, special rail transit equipment, high-end CNC machine tools, intelligent robots, and high-end intelligent agricultural machinery.
