Advantech has announced a new partnership with MOV.AI, which aims to simplify the creation of autonomous mobile robots (AMR) by providing robot manufacturers and integrators with cutting-edge industrial computing technology and a powerful software platform for building, deploying and running intelligent robots.
Advantech’s rugged hardware can be integrated with MOV.AI’s robot engine platform, making it easier for businesses to develop and deploy AMR. The collaboration provides a solution to meet the growing demand for value, flexibility, efficiency and productivity in manufacturing and logistics.
“Advantech is delighted to partner with MOV.AI and we look forward to delivering the most advanced AGV/AMR solutions in the global robotics sector,” commented David Jen, Vice President, Industrial iot Business Unit, Advantech. “The key to our collaboration is to ensure interoperability of AMR ecosystem products and provide a more comprehensive solution for our customers.”
MOV.AI’s ROs-based robot engine platform provides AMR manufacturers and automation integrators with the enterprise-grade software and tools needed for advanced automation, including navigation, positioning, and calibration. The platform features a ROs-based visual integrated development environment (IDE), as well as off-the-shelf algorithms and integrations. In addition, the platform offers interoperable fleet management, flexible interfaces with warehouse environments such as ERP and WMS, and cybersecurity compliance.
Advantech offers edge computers optimized for compute performance, functionality, and ease of deployment, powered by the latest Intel processors and offering powerful I/O flexibility to deliver optimal efficiency across multiple vertical markets, including automation, manufacturing, logistics, retail, and transportation. One such product is the UNO-238 V2, a compact iot edge computer equipped with a 12th-generation Intel Core i processor and DDR5 SODIMM for high-speed multitasking computing and data transfer. The device inherits its predecessor’s compact form factor and optimized I/O design, making it ideal for most factory scenarios, and the UNO-238 V2 features a fanless and rugged design that makes it suitable for challenging industrial environments.
It can withstand a wide operating temperature range of -20 to 60 °C (-4 to 140 °F), ensuring durability. The UNO-238 V2 is compatible with terminal blocks, providing excellent flexibility for electrical wiring. In addition, it integrates CANBus and supports M.2 B/M/E-Key for storage and wireless communication. Enabling seamless, zero-latency data exchange and stable connectivity between edge devices and the cloud, the UNO-238 provides a robust and reliable solution for the AGV/AMR industry.
Another product is Advantech’s MIC-770 V3, a compact fanless system powered by a 12th-generation Intel Core i socket type (LGA1700) processor and an Intel R680E chipset. It provides high performance computing, multiple I/O interfaces, and flexible scalability through the integration of I-modules and iDoor technologies. For example, the MIC-770 V3 equipped with the MIC-75GF10 expansion module is compatible with the SKY-MXM-A2000 MXM GPU card. This provides machine vision and autonomous navigation capabilities for a variety of machine automation applications, including wafer box handling, material handling, robotic arm operation, and more.
The MIC-770 V3 also supports WISE-Edge365 for remote management of status monitoring and anomaly detection. With these capabilities, the MIC-770 V3 can be deployed as a data gateway or industrial controller in a variety of edge AIoT applications.
Motti Kushnir, CEO of MOV.AI, said: “The growing need for automation has created the need for secure interoperable systems that can be easily deployed and easily adapted to changing business needs. We are excited about our partnership with Advantech as it provides our customers with a comprehensive solution that fits into the broader automation environment and provides continued high value.”
Advantech and MOV.AI are accelerating the time it takes service providers and manufacturers to deploy the most efficient AMR solutions for a variety of applications. Advantech will contribute its capabilities in hardware design and manufacturing, while MOV.AI will contribute its expertise in ROs-based software, and the collaboration will accelerate the speed at which AMR can realize value, leading to faster and more efficient deployment.
