Steway (Shanghai) Electronic Technology Co., LTD. (stock abbreviation: Steway) officially launched two new upgraded AI series CMOS image sensor products – SC431AI and SC231AI – 4MP and 2MP. As the mainstream resolution products for AIoT and security applications, both products are equipped with Sterway’s full-performance upgrade technology SmartClarity®-3, which combines better night vision full-color imaging, high-temperature imaging, and low-power performance advantages to better enable smart wireless cameras and multi-camera solutions such as home IPC and AIoT terminals.
The rapid development and popularity of intelligent AIoT and security applications has spawned a growing market demand for 4MP and 2MP CIS. According to the TSR 2022 research report, from 2021 to 2026, it is expected that the global security market 4MP to 5MP CIS shipments will grow rapidly from 130 million to 220 million; CIS shipments of 2MP in the global security market will reach 450 million.
The new generation of SmartClarity®-3 technology, based on the 12-inch advanced wafer process, integrates SFCPixel® technology, PixGain technology, ultra-low noise peripheral reading circuit technology, near-infrared sensitivity NIR+ technology, cinema level color vision and other upgraded imaging technologies. With high sensitivity starlight night vision full color, high dynamic range, near infrared sensitivity enhancement and other imaging performance advantages, successfully opened the iterative upgrade of AI series products.
Night vision full color imaging comprehensive upgrade, both day and night picture capture
The SC431AI and SC231AI are powered by STV’s advanced SmartClarity®-3 technology, which delivers increased sensitivity and quantum efficiency through the newly upgraded high-end BSI pixel process, combined with patented SFCPixel® technology, for enhanced dark light and night vision imaging. The SC431AI has a quantum efficiency (QE) of up to 88% at 520nm in visible light and up to 23% at 850nm. Compared to the previous generation, the SC431AI’s full well electronics (FWC) has been improved by 28%, the maximum signal-to-noise ratio (Max SNR) has been improved by 1dB, and the dynamic range has been improved by 4dB, so that the two new products can take into account both day and night scenes, capturing clearer and more delicate pictures of light and dark details. In addition, Stevie’s fully upgraded color process brings cinema-quality color to both products.
Excellent high temperature performance, more outstanding image picture
The SC431AI and SC231AI rely on Sterway’s advanced ultra-low noise peripheral read circuit technology and both offer significant improvements in high temperature imaging performance. Compared to its predecessor, the SC231AI achieves a significant 36% reduction in PRNU and 8% reduction in read noise. Under the high temperature condition of 80℃, the Dark current parameters DC and Dark Shading of SC231AI are significantly reduced by 54% and 63%, respectively, compared with the previous generation, so that the camera can output high-quality and clear images in high temperature environment.
