Carry out large-scale production of electrolytic water hydrogen production equipment to prepare green hydrogen
The plant’s new production line will be commissioned in 2023 with an initial capacity of 1 gigawatt and several gigawatts in the future
Siemens Energy will start the large-scale production of hydrogen production equipment by electrolyzing water in Berlin. The new production line will be located at the existing plant in Berlin’s Moabit area and is scheduled to start production in 2023.
The infrastructure of the plant is perfect, and the existing production workshop can be fully utilized. The proposed production line of electrolytic water hydrogen production equipment covers an area of 2000 square meters, and the investment is about 30 million euros. At present, the plant mainly produces the world’s leading high-power and high-efficiency gas turbines. These gas turbines are already operating at 50% hydrogen and are expected to operate purely on hydrogen by 2030.
Siemens Energy is bringing together expertise and experience in relevant areas to ensure a steady and successful energy transition. This also covers other business areas of the energy transition, such as the innovative high-voltage products produced at the Siemens Energy Switch plant in Berlin to ensure reliable transmission of electricity to the consumer.
Through the construction of a new production line of electrolytic water hydrogen production equipment, we have once again demonstrated our firm belief in actively promoting energy transformation with facts. To this end, we bring together years of knowledge and experience in many technical areas of the energy industry. We see hydrogen as an important part of the future energy system. Only when the manufacturing cost of electrolytic water hydrogen production equipment is greatly reduced, can the economic feasibility of hydrogen energy utilization be guaranteed. The new production line we are building will make hydrogen competitive in the market as soon as possible.”
