The operation of electronic information manufacturing industry from January to July 2023

From January to July, the production of China’s electronic information manufacturing industry recovered steadily, the decline in exports narrowed, the efficiency fell slightly, and the investment increased steadily.

1. Steady recovery of production

From January to July, the added value of the electronic information manufacturing industry above designated size increased by 0.1% year-on-year, 0.1 percentage points higher than that in the first half of the year; The growth rate was 3.7 and 1.5 percentage points lower than that of the industrial and high-tech manufacturing industries in the same period, respectively. In July, the added value of electronic information manufacturing industry above designated size increased by 0.7% year-on-year.

From January to July, among the main products, the output of mobile phones was 810 million units, down 1.6% year-on-year, of which the output of smart phones was 593 million units, down 7.9% year-on-year; The output of microcomputer equipment was 189 million units, down 24.4% year-on-year; The output of integrated circuits was 19.7 billion pieces, down 3.9% year-on-year.

Second, the decline in exports narrowed

From January to July, the export delivery value of the electronic information manufacturing industry above designated size fell by 8.3% year-on-year, which was 0.9 percentage points narrower than the first half of the year, and 3.4 percentage points deeper than the industrial decline in the same period. In July, the export delivery value of electronic information manufacturing industry above designated size fell by 5.1% year-on-year.

According to customs statistics, from January to July, China exported 80.32 million notebook computers, down 23.1% year on year; 414 million mobile phones were exported, down 11.8% year-on-year. The export of integrated circuits was 151.7 billion, down 8.3% year-on-year.

Third, the efficiency fell slightly

From January to July, the electronic information manufacturing industry above designated size achieved operating income of 7.98 trillion yuan, down 3.8% year-on-year, and 0.4 percentage points narrower than the decline in the first half of the year; Operating costs were 6.98 trillion yuan, down 3.3% year-on-year; The total profit was 276.3 billion yuan, down 26.4% year-on-year and 1.2 percentage points deeper than that in the first half of the year; The operating income margin was 3.5%, down 0.1 percentage points from the first half of the year.
