Robotics is experiencing significant growth due to labor and skill shortages, supply chain uncertainty, and a significantly increased global demand for more sustainable and efficient ways of operating. In response, more and more companies are turning to robotics and automation to build resilience and operate smarter, faster and more efficiently. The new OptiFact software platform helps businesses collect, manage and analyze data from plant equipment to optimize decision making and improve processes and performance. Our new IRB 1090 industrial-grade educational robot will help the next generation acquire more skills to better adapt to the new era of automation.
New modular software platform
OptiFact™ is ABB’s first modular software platform that helps companies capture and build business value by collecting, managing and analyzing data from hundreds of plant devices. OptiFact increases productivity by 20% by reducing downtime and optimizes decision making at the plant by tracking KPIs and avoiding major failures.
Industrial grade educational robot
The IRB 1090 robot (3.5kg payload) is ABB’s new effort focused on education. The IRB 1090 supports fully customized educational units, is powered by ABB’s OmniCore controller, and is STEM.org certified. Each robot comes with free access to 100 of ABB’s leading offline programming simulation software, RobotStudio. The launch of IRB 1090 aims to bridge the skills gap in robotics education and prepare students for future jobs.
