In 1982, the Shenyang Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences successfully developed China’s first industrial robot, which opened the prelude to the development and industrialization of Chinese robots. However, due to the weak foundation and late start, China’s industrial robot industry has been limited to the stage of industrialization exploration and scientific research.
The “four big families” in the field of industrial robots – Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, Yaskawa motor has long enjoyed a high reputation in the industry. With excellent technology and scale advantages, the industrial robot products they produce have quickly occupied the Chinese market.
Also in the 1980s, the classic Japanese animation “Astro Boy” was introduced to China by CCTV. In the animation, the teenage robot Astro Boy as the protagonist has always been active for the welfare of mankind.
Today, 40 years later, a Chinese robot company named “Astro Boy” is producing high-speed, lightweight robot products for nearly 600 domestic manufacturing enterprises to achieve cost reduction and efficiency.
Astro Boy Robotics was founded in January 2013 and this year marks its first decade. During this time, Astro Boy robots gradually developed into the leader of the parallel robot circuit.
From parallel robots to high-speed SCARA, the first breakout
Delta parallel robot, also known as “spider hand”, is an industrial robot category with high speed, high precision, high stability and other characteristics, which is widely used in food, daily chemical, pharmaceutical, 3C, new energy lithium battery, photovoltaic and other industries, for people to pick up light and small scattered materials at high speed.
As the “elder” product of Atongm robot, after ten years of development, more than 60 parallel robot products have been launched to fully meet the high-speed sorting, handling, loading and unloading, packaging, testing, dispensing, palletizing and other applications of the production line in various subdivisions.
The competition between domestic industrial robots and overseas brands can be seen as a contest between new forces and old overlords.
From the data given by MIR Rui Industry, in 2022, the market share of the parallel robot segment increased to 20.9%, an increase of 5.7% over the same period in 2021, ranking first in the independent brand for four consecutive years, and completing the catch-up of ABB for the first time, becoming the first in the whole brand.
From the perspective of the timeline, the overall progress of domestic industrial robots has a gap of several decades compared with foreign countries. However, driven by China’s rapid economic growth, the strong robot demand of domestic manufacturing enterprises has become the driving force to promote the development of domestic industrial robots.
Shi Fengcai, CMO of Astro Boy Machine, said: In the past ten years, the company has focused on the research and development and improvement of robot ontology technology, and created a perfect ontology product matrix; On the other hand, fully realize the core high-speed motion control system full independent research and development and mass production delivery.
The correct product strategy promotes the breakthrough of Atongwood robot in product performance and further helps it complete the in-depth layout of the application side.
In October last year, Astro Boy Robots officially announced the launch of high-speed SCARA series robots. Based on the past decade of dedicated work in the field of parallel robotics, this series perfectly integrates the “parallel” gene.
