On October 9, Matt Garman, Amazon Cloud Technology’s senior vice president of global sales, marketing and service, announced a change in the leadership of Greater China: Chu Ruisong will take over from Zhang Wenyi as Amazon Global Vice president and Amazon Cloud Technology Greater China Executive director.
Chu has 30 years of experience in enterprise software, IT consulting, cloud computing and artificial intelligence. Prior to joining Amazon Cloud Technology, Chu served as Vice President of Baidu Group and was part of Baidu’s senior management team, where he was responsible for leading Baidu Apollo smart car business. Prior to that, he spent most of his career at SAP, where he held several leadership positions in engineering, strategy, business development, and ultimately the global development of S/4HANA cloud products, leading thousands of employees worldwide across Germany, Central Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific.
Matt Garman said that Greater China is one of the most strategically important regions in the world for Amazon Cloud Technology. “I also look forward to Chu Ruisong and the Greater China team working together to continue the strong momentum established by the team led by Yi Chang.” Not only does Greater China have huge potential, but the business here is uniquely valuable to Amazon Cloud Technology’s global business, both today and in the future. I am confident that with the excellent business and organizational foundation that Yi Chang and the Greater China team have established, as well as Chu’s rich experience, deep technical accumulation and proven leadership, Amazon Cloud Technology Greater China business will achieve even more impressive results in the future.” ‘he said.
The reporter learned that Amazon cloud technology has entered China since 2013. In September 2016, Amazon Cloud Technology China (Beijing) region operated by Halo New Network was officially commercialized. In December 2017, the Amazon Cloud Technology China (Ningxia) region operated by NWCD was officially launched. In April 2019, Amazon Cloud Technology Asia Pacific (Hong Kong) region was officially launched. Amazon Cloud Technology attaches great importance to its regional business in China, and China is one of the first regions to land in its many services. For example, the China region is one of the first regions to launch a new Amazon EC2 instance based on the self-developed cloud-native processor Amazon Graviton2; Machine learning service Amazon SageMaker’s SageMaker Studio feature was launched in only six regions around the world when it landed, and China accounted for two of them. It is worth mentioning that in the statistics of the use of overseas public cloud IaaS resources by Chinese enterprises going out to sea (counting the amount collected in China), Amazon Cloud technology takes the lead.
