China’s first hydrogen fuel cell-powered vessel, the Three Gorges Hydrozhou-1, set off from the Three Gorges Visitor Center in Yichang, Hubei Province, on the morning of October 11, completing its maiden voyage in the waters of Yichang. This marks a breakthrough in the application of hydrogen fuel cell technology to inland vessels in China. Beier Electronic X2 pro intelligent man-machine with its excellent performance, through a number of mainstream classification society certification, rich communication support and open software, was selected to provide reliable HMI solutions for the Three Gorges Hydrogen Zhou-1 electric propulsion, energy management and other systems.
The Three Gorges Hydrozhou-1 is 49.9 meters long, 10.4 meters wide and 3.2 meters deep, with a passenger quota of 80 people. It mainly uses a hydrogen fuel cell power system, which is finely controlled and optimized by the human-machine interface solution provided by Beier Electronics. The hydrogen fuel cell has a rated output power of 500 kW, a maximum speed of 28 km/h, a cruise speed of 20 km/h, and a range of up to 200 km. After delivery, it will carry out traffic, inspection and emergency work in the Three Gorges reservoir area and between the Three Gorges Gezhou Dam.
It is reported that the Three Gorges Hydrogen boat 1 is the first hydrogen fuel cell powered ship classified into the China Classification Society, compared with traditional oil-powered ships, is expected to replace 103.16 tons of fuel per year, reducing carbon dioxide emissions of 343.67 tons. This means that the first voyage of this ship type is not only economically beneficial, but also of great significance for environmental protection.
Beer Electronic intelligent man-machine interface X2 pro is applied to the fuel cell control system, lithium battery control system, the whole ship electric propulsion system and the remote control system of the driver’s console of the Three Gorges Hydrozhou-1. These systems are crucial to the operation of the entire ship, and Beier’s HMI solution enables these systems to operate efficiently and stably, providing a strong guarantee for the successful maiden voyage of the Three Gorges Hydrogenzhou-1.
Industry insiders said that in recent years, the application of new energy power propulsion technology has become an important development direction of green ships, and hydrogen energy has three advantages: pollution-free, renewable and high efficiency. Electric propulsion, energy management and other system man-machine interface solutions provided by Beier Electronics help customers achieve energy efficiency, zero emissions and ship comfort improvement on hydrogen fuel cell technology ships, which is an indispensable part of the development of green ships.
