On October 19, 2023, Advantech’s “Embedded Edge Computing Industry Partner Summit” was held in Shenzhen, China. As the edge computing special session of the 2023 Advantech Series Industry Partner Summit, the theme of this summit is “The New trend of embedded edge computing detonates the application business opportunities of emerging industries”. With Microsoft, AMD, Arm, QT, Open Medical, Ruixin Microelectronics, Simo Technology and other partners to share and discuss how embedded edge computing and AI technology can help industrial upgrading and expand business opportunities in emerging industries.
Adhere to the enterprise mission of “smart Earth promotion”
Implement the “Sector Driven” growth model
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Liu Kezhen, chairman of Advantech, with the theme of “AIoT + Edge Computing as the core industrial policy of Advantech in the next stage”, reviewed the development of automation and edge computing hardware from the first stage based on thousands of industrial products since the establishment of Advantech. From the development stage of AIoT software platform and industry Apps to the Co-Creation period of 40 years of development with The Times, based on this, Advantech presented to the present partners in the next 5-10 years will focus on industrial system integration services and integrators to create long-term development. At the same time, we will adhere to the enterprise mission of “smart Earth promotion” and create a better future of the Internet of Things industry with partners!
The future trend of edge computing welcomes a new era of application in emerging industries
Mr. Zhang Jiahao, global general manager of Advantech Embedded Internet of Things Platform Business Group (hereafter referred to as EIoT), then proposed three major growth engines in the future: As an important part of the top eight industrial opportunities in the market, EIoT will adhere to the Sector Driven growth model, focus on the diversification of AIoT industry applications, continue to introduce leading new technologies and new platforms, and connect global strategic partners to jointly achieve the ultimate goal of industrial iot intelligence.
Zhang Jiahao, global general manager of Advantech Embedded iot Platform business Group
Mr. Xu Jiehong, General manager of EIoT China, based on the Chinese market, faced with the rapid development of new energy, medical imaging, robotics, 5G communication and AIoT four emerging industry markets and applications in recent years, proposed China’s local development strategy – will increase research and development energy and link major chip manufacturers through hardware and software integration services. To provide customers with comprehensive Design-In Services, to help the application of emerging industries quickly landing.
Join hands with partners, gather strength and win-win, and build industrial ecological development
The AI storm that has swept the tech world over the past year centers on ChatGPT, large models, and generative AI, which dramatically improve the natural language capabilities of machines. Major manufacturers have also begun to layout edge AI related technologies. In terms of hardware IP, Arm has made comprehensive efforts and continuously innovated in Cortex-A application processor, Cortex-M embedded processor and Ethos-U AI microaccelerator product lines to enhance support for AI and machine learning. Arm and Advantech have nearly 20 years of cooperation history, and this year launched a number of chip solutions based on Arm architecture, including RK, Mediatek, NXP, etc., and deepened cooperation in software and standards, through the SystemReady certification to enhance software and hardware compatibility. Support for Ubuntu based on the MTK Genio platform was announced at the World Embedded Congress 2023 in Nuremberg. With the further integration of AI and edge, Arm said that it will continue to strengthen and deepen collaborative innovation in the field of edge AI hardware and software with Advantech.
As a leader in high-performance and adaptive computing, AMD also showed the audience a series of moves and innovations in cpus and FPgas in recent years, as well as emerging applications in the automotive, industrial, medical, Ethernet and robotics industries. The core strategic policy of AI everywhere is proposed, which will integrate innovation in the cloud, edge side, CPU, GPU, software and architecture to promote AI-related applications.
IDC’s latest forecast shows that enterprises worldwide will invest nearly $16 billion in generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) solutions by 2023. Over the next few years, GenAI investments will follow a natural progression as companies transition from early experimentation to aggressively building targeted use cases, to widespread adoption of GenAI in business activities and expanding its use to the edge. At the conference, Mr. Xu Hao, Senior Marketing Director of Azure Application Innovation at Microsoft Asia, told guests that generative AI has the potential to create $2.6 to $4.4 trillion in value across industries and automate activities that take up 60-70% of employees’ time. AI will bring more competitive advantages to organizations in terms of productivity, cost reduction, efficiency and cybersecurity. Microsoft has embraced AI on a large scale, and at the same time, Microsoft and Advantech will work more closely to promote the landing of AI on the edge side.
