Deep under the sea in Humen, Guangdong Province, construction is under way on the first section of the Pearl River Estuary Tunnel of the Shenjiang Railway. At present, the submarine tunnel project with the largest underwater buried depth in China, the deepest shield section is 106 meters, and the maximum water pressure is as high as 1.06 mpa. The hydrology and geology of the project are extremely complicated, and the construction difficulty is rare in the world. The key to help this project move from drawings to reality is the “Shenjiang No. 1” shield machine that is fully digging in the tunnel. With a total weight of 3,800 tons and a total length of 130 meters, this giant is composed of cutterhead, shield body, supporting trailer and other components. The excavation diameter can reach 13.42 meters, and the double shield shell design greatly improves the adaptability of the equipment under ultra-high water pressure at the sea. In an industrial park in Changsha, Hunan Province, where this equipment is produced, more shield machines are still rolling off the production line.

In the past two years, the diameter of the shield machine produced in China has become larger and larger, and the types from earth pressure, mud water to hard rock are also covered one by one, which also greatly improves the completion efficiency of various complex projects.
CCTV reporter Ning Kun: This big ring with a diameter of 8.61 meters is the world’s largest diameter shield machine main bearing. It just rolled off the assembly line this month. It is mainly used to drive the cutter head of the shield machine to carry out excavation operations, and is the most core key component of the entire equipment, also known as the “heart” of the shield machine. And its successful development also means that China has opened up the “last link” of the whole industrial chain autonomy of high-end equipment such as shield machine.
In the assembly shop, a newly completed shield machine is being prepared for shipment to Italy. According to the staff, this shield machine, which cost more than 100 million yuan, applies a number of new technologies such as permanent magnet drive, push and push synchronization, automatic equipment management, and ultra-high pressure escape, which can save more than 20% energy than ordinary equipment. At present, the shield machine produced in China accounts for nearly 70% of the global market share.

In the past, we imported such high-end equipment from China; Since the last decade, we have vigorously developed China’s own high-end equipment manufacturing, so our equipment is increasingly going abroad.
Great power heavy equipment frequently “new” high-end equipment erect the “backbone” of industry
In China’s high-end equipment manufacturing industry, there are not only the shield machine in the tunnel, but also many “big” that are being transformed, which will become the future of the great power heavy equipment and create more new business cards made in China. How will the high-end equipment manufacturing industry transform and release more new quality productivity? An interview with Yang Huayong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Since the beginning of this year, a number of iconic domestic high-end equipment has made breakthroughs in succession, and large country heavy equipment has frequently “on the new” : the first domestic large cruise ship has completed its trial voyage, UHV power transmission and transformation equipment has exceeded million volts, and the first far-reaching sea floating wind power platform has successfully connected to the grid for power generation… At present, some of China’s high-end equipment in the fields of aerospace satellites, rail transit, ocean engineering, intelligent manufacturing, etc., has a clear advantage in the world.
At present, the competitiveness of China’s high-end equipment products is rapidly improving. In the first three quarters of this year, China’s shipbuilding industry ranked first in the world in shipbuilding completions, new orders and hand-held orders; Automobile exports continued to grow, and the production and sales of new energy vehicles hit a new high. In Yang Huayong’s view, including relatively mature markets such as shield machines, the future can still develop in depth, and there is no small room for growth.
Yang Huayong introduced that high-end equipment design is complex, the upstream and downstream industry chain is very long, involving materials, research and development, production and other links, and the industry has a significant driving effect. After the mature development of many types of high-end equipment, the cumulative industrial scale is huge.

Strategic emerging industries will incubate new quality productivity. Each track a lot of high-end equipment, from the sales point of view is a trillion-level market, adding up to more than ten trillion, hundreds of thousands of billion of the market.
Yang Huayong believes that in the future, China’s development of high-end equipment manufacturing industry should further strengthen basic research, strengthen industry-university research cooperation, make up short boards, forge long boards, and open up new racetracks. The reporter learned that the current Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other departments are implementing major technical equipment research projects, promoting the high-quality development of industrial mother-machine, optimizing and improving the first (set) insurance compensation policy, and accelerating the development of high-end medical, advanced agricultural machinery and other special equipment.
