On November 2, 2023, Mouser Electronics, a global authorized distributor of new electronic components and industrial automation products, began selling Raspberry Pi 5 single-board computers. Based on the Raspberry PI 4, the Raspberry PI 5 single-board computer (SBC) has 2-3 times more CPU performance, a significant increase in GPU performance, and improved displays, cameras, and USB ports. The Raspberry PI 5 SBC provides an affordable and easy-to-use solution for applications such as home automation, industrial automation, edge computing, robotics and surveillance.
The Raspberry PI 5 single-board computer supplied by Mouze is the first full-size Raspberry PI computer with its own chip design. The RP1 I/O control chip supports improved interfaces, as well as faster external USB connection SCSI (UAS) drives and other high-speed peripherals for transfer speeds. The new high-performance SBC is based on Broadcom BCM2712 quad-core Arm® Cortex-A76 64-bit system-on-chip (SoC) operating at 2.4GHz. The Raspberry PI 5 SBC includes a MicroSD card slot that supports high-speed SDR104 mode, and a high-speed single-channel PCI Express 2.0 port that supports high-bandwidth peripherals. In addition to two USB 2.0 ports, the SBC also has two USB 3.0 ports, which can simultaneously support 5Gbps operation speed. It also has a VideoCore VII GPU with OpenGL ES3.1 support and dual 4Kp60 HDMI display output with HDR support. Two four-channel 1.5Gbps MIPI transceivers allow users to connect up to two cameras or displays.
Available in 4GB and 8GB versions, the Raspberry PI 5 supports both Bluetooth 5.0 and Bluetooth Low Energy, dual-band Wi-Fi® and Gigabit Ethernet, giving users the flexibility to choose between wired and wireless connectivity. The Raspberry PI 5 also extends support for Power over Ethernet (PoE), enabling it to power over Ethernet, while also offering a USB Type-C port for backup power.
