On November 6, 2023, Siemens China Research Institute and Machinery Industry Information Research Institute jointly released the market’s first evaluation model for the diagnosis, benchmarking and analysis of smes’ innovation capabilities at the Sixth China International Import Expo. The model aims to provide valuable reference for smes in the formulation and implementation of innovation strategy, the cultivation of innovation comprehensive ability, and the construction of innovation organization, so as to guide smes to accelerate their development by innovation.
For the Chinese market, small and medium-sized enterprises are booming and are listed as key cultivation objects by the Chinese government. These enterprises have strong innovation vitality, but they still face many problems in terms of technology accumulation and innovative management concepts, and there is still a long way to go on the road to the future. How to help them conduct more scientific and comprehensive self-assessment, more clearly understand their own problems and shortcomings, the direction and focus of improvement, and improve the corresponding ability, is crucial for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Over the years, our institute has been concerned about the development of China’s manufacturing industry, and we know that small and medium-sized enterprises are the key to achieving manufacturing power. Over the years, the state has strongly supported the development of small and medium-sized enterprises. In recent years, through the establishment of a gradient cultivation system, it has cultivated 1,187 individual champion manufacturing enterprises, 12,000 specialized and special new “little giant” enterprises and 98,000 specialized and special new enterprises. These enterprises become the “singles champion” and “supporting experts” in the field of segmentation, and are an indispensable part of the industrial chain supply chain. The core of cultivating specialized and special new enterprises is to guide the innovative development of small and medium-sized enterprises. Through this strong alliance with Siemens China Research Institute, we firmly believe that we can provide effective support for the future development of small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises in the country, so that small and medium-sized enterprises can accelerate their development and growth by improving their own innovation ability, and seek a common future!
The SME innovation capability model released this time is a summary of Siemens China Research Institute’s own continuous innovation experience over the years and the best practice of serving upstream and downstream ecological partners. On this basis, Siemens China Research Institute, together with the Machinery Industry Information Research Institute, actively investigated and visited nearly 300 smes. In-depth interviews and exchanges were conducted with the founders, executives, and heads of technology research and development, and the theoretical and practical experience was integrated and finally formed.
