In 2013, Pilmagnetic launched the CMSE (Registered Machinery Safety Specialist) qualification course in four countries, the world’s first accredited international training course in advanced machinery safety. The four-day course provides a general overview of machinery safety topics through five modules and imparts knowledge about various aspects of the machinery life cycle. Today, Piercy offers CMSE qualifications in 15 languages in 60 countries.
TUV Nord and Pielmagnet have been partners in the CMSE qualification from the very beginning: the TUV Nord certificate issued after passing the examination has international validity because the CMSE modules have been standardised and reached a uniform level worldwide.
Luis Armando, Principal Automation Engineer at Jabil AG, a global manufacturing solutions provider, is the 10,000th graduate to successfully complete the certification. Working at the production facility in Guadalajara, Mexico, he oversaw the implementation of new automation. “My main responsibility is to provide a safe workplace for everyone. Being a CMSE is very important because it is essential for certifying the performance of machinery according to regulations, “Armado said while receiving his certificate.
CMSE as an enterprise standard
CMSE registered Machinery safety specialists serve as an individual qualification for uniform training of trainees in different locations worldwide. This qualification establishes the standard of competence of the company in the area of machine safety. “Jabil has partnered with Pilmagh to help them drive global employee participation in CMSE, and we have already provided CMSE to groups in China, Mexico, the United States and Germany, with further training planned in Southeast Asia, Europe and South America. It’s great to work with a company that puts so much emphasis on machinery safety and, ultimately, employee safety.” Yvonne McNamara, global account management at Pielmagnet.
Sergiy Keretsman, Jabil’s global EHS Specialist, said: “One of Jabil’s main goals is to provide customers with the most technologically advanced manufacturing solutions while providing a safe workplace. As manufacturing processes become more advanced, automated and complex, we have launched a multi-year comprehensive machinery safety strategy to ensure the safety of our employees. All of these initiatives are related to overall machinery safety, helping to identify and effectively manage hazards throughout the life cycle of machinery. Our people are a strong foundation for this program.”
