Emerson, a leader in industrial software and technology, is now a supplier of integrated automation and project engineering for DG Fuels, helping the transportation industry advance decarbonization during the production of advanced biofuels.
Transport is responsible for more than 25% of global emissions. To address this, DG Fuels’ mandate is to “progressively” provide cellulosic sustainable aviation fuel on a large scale before rolling it out to renewable or green diesel. Its advanced conversion process, which produces fuel that can be used in existing aviation and automotive engines, yields three times more from biomass feed than conventional biofuel production processes.
Michael Darcy, CEO of DG Fuels, said: “Technology and innovation are fundamental to getting our innovative fuel conversion process into mass production. Our goal is to become the world leader in synthetic jet fuel and fuel oil production. “Partnering with Emerson and leveraging their project expertise and automation portfolio gives us the confidence to deliver on this vision.”
Emerson’s deep automation project engineering and execution capabilities, supported by the industry’s most comprehensive automation portfolio, were selected by DG Fuels to provide a suite of advanced sensing, control, system, equipment monitoring and production optimization technologies and software to enable safe, reliable and sustainable production.
Mike Train, Emerson’s chief sustainability officer, said: “Sustainable aviation fuels are a critical step in the transportation industry’s energy transition. The adoption of innovative multi-energy solutions will enable meaningful progress. We look forward to supporting DG Fuels in their mission to produce high-volume, high-quality biomass fuels at scale.”
DG Fuels has signed agreements for the development and supply of sustainable Aviation fuels with leading aerospace companies: Air France KLM, Delta, Airbus and GE Aviation.
