Midea’s total of 9 factories were selected in the “List”, in order: Hualing Refrigerator Hefei factory, Midea Wuhu kitchen heat factory, Midea Kitchen Heat Handan factory, Midea washing machine Jingzhou factory, Midea home air conditioning Wuhan factory, Midea refrigerator Jingzhou factory, Midea home air conditioning Wuhan HVAC factory, Midea Micro Qing Suzhou factory, Midea home air conditioning Chongqing factory (Note: According to the release order of the “Directory”), showing the precipitation and overall strength of the United States in digital and intelligent manufacturing.
In 2012, Midea started digital transformation and proposed three “one” strategies, namely “one beauty, one system, one standard”. Based on this strategic traction, Midea launched the digital 1.0 project, also known as the “632 project”. Based on three years of work promotion, the process, data and system of all business units of the whole group have been unified.
In 2015, the United States introduced big data, mobile, intelligent manufacturing related technologies, so that the overall efficiency of the enterprise has been improved again. In 2016, Midea launched the Digital 2.0 project, the main purpose is to build the entire Midea based on data-driven customer customization capabilities. In 2018, under the guidance of the national industrial Internet policy, Midea launched the pilot project of the industrial Internet and created the Midea’s own “Midea Industrial Internet platform”.
In 2020, the United States launched the second strategic transformation of “two comprehensives”, that is, “comprehensive digitalization, comprehensive intelligence”, driving the United States to transform to a data-driven technology group. In the value chain of business operations, from front-end marketing to research and development, to supply chain, manufacturing, quality, logistics, and back-end services, digital transformation is ongoing.
In 2022, Midea released the “Digital beauty 2025” strategy, starting from ToC and ToB industries, to comprehensively build Midea’s digital brain, promote home digitization and industrial digitization, and commit to providing more systematic digital solutions and building a new digital ecology. In 2023, Midea also released the “Midea Smart Industry Solution”, in the field of intelligent manufacturing, based on the full-scene coverage of solutions, efficient collaborative lean supply chain and digital twin technology, to help enterprises reduce poor quality and delivery costs, improve human efficiency, shorten delivery time, reduce energy consumption.
At present, Midea has realized the transformation and upgrading from automated factories to end-to-end interconnected value chain, relying on 5G, AI and industrial Internet platforms, through 5G enabling data operation, production management, AI intelligent detection, quality precision traceability, intelligent logistics and other aspects of the whole value chain, complete the leap from traditional manufacturing to intelligent manufacturing, and achieve a significant improvement in labor efficiency. Significantly lower unit costs, and significantly shorter order lead times for operational excellence, resulting in a double qualitative leap in improving their own performance and contributing to customer success.
Taking Midea household air conditioning Wuhan HVAC factory as an example, in order to achieve the goal of digital operation, the factory focuses on creating 11 application scenarios such as digital twin system, COLMO high-end product workshop vacuum pump online detection technology solution, energy management system, factory data operation center, Midea industrial Internet platform, and Midea EHS digitalization. The factory focuses on the business indicators, comprehensively in-depth data operation management, realizes the integration of multiple systems and focuses on the core indicators at all levels, creates an intelligent management system that integrates operations and empowers, builds a factory data operation center, improves the intelligent management level of the factory, and achieves a decrease of more than 50% in the defective product rate and a reduction of more than 60% in the supply cycle.
Before the release of the list, Midea already had 15 national green factories, three zero-carbon factories, and five global lighthouse factories. Midea has integrated more than 50 years of accumulated manufacturing experience and more than 10 years of digital achievements into the Mqing Industrial Internet platform to achieve manufacturing knowledge, software and hardware in a trinity and output solutions.
With Meiqing as the base and independent controllable industrial software as the starting point, the “Meiyun Smart Number” under Midea, which is responsible for digital external empowerment, comprehensively empowers the pan-manufacturing industry, covering digital consulting, lighthouse | digital factory construction, smart supply chain and other fields, helping leading enterprises and factories, chains, groups and districts to improve the digital intelligent operation, production, operation and maintenance capacity of the whole value chain. At present, it has been widely used in more than 50 subdivisions such as auto parts, electronic semiconductors, and equipment manufacturing, and has served more than 1,000 enterprises.
Meiqing also serves industrial clusters through the “chain master mode” and “SME public service platform mode”, that is, the “chain master enterprise” drives smes to the cloud. Based on the optimization of supply chain business processes, combined with technology applications such as AI and big data modeling, Meiqing builds an industrial chain collaboration platform to open up the R&D end, production end, supply chain end, business end, logistics end and user end. To realize the upstream and downstream collaborative manufacturing mode, we have assisted customers to establish more than 100 digital factories and more than 150 digital workshops, constantly optimizing capabilities and serving more manufacturing partners. At the same time, we will cooperate with industry associations and industry leading enterprises to build a public service platform for smes and help smes carry out digital transformation and upgrading. With its excellent performance in external empowerment, Meiqing was successfully selected as a “Cross-industry and cross-field Industrial Internet Platform” (referred to as “dual-platform”) by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in 2022.
Up to now, Midea Group has invested more than 17 billion yuan in digital transformation, and has built more than 5,000 industrial models in total, which is committed to continuously promoting the overall digital and intelligent manufacturing level of China’s manufacturing industry and helping the manufacturing power strategy.
