China’s Taiwan passive components manufacturer (YAGEO) announced that it has completed the acquisition of France’s Schneider Electric Advanced Industrial Sensors division (Telemecanique Sensors) on November 1, 2023. The parties have officially completed the acquisition upon completion of the consolidation and closing operations.
The acquisition, announced in October 2022, was made in cash for a total price of 686 million euros (about 4.977 billion yuan). The acquisition will implement GGIE’s operational strategy of continuing to focus on high-end niche areas, further expand its product portfolio of high-end design and high-end applications, and enhance GGIE’s market position as a global niche component solution provider.
Telemecanique Sensors is a global leader in the design, development and solutions of critical electromechanical and electronic sensors, with average annual revenue of approximately US $330 million and average annual revenue growth of 5.5% over the past three years, with approximately 70% of its revenue coming from high-end markets such as North America and Europe. The company has sales locations in 21 countries and five production sites in France, the United States, Mexico and Indonesia. Telemecanique Sensors has more than 90 years of experience and a diversified portfolio of sensor solutions, including high-end limit switches, proximity sensors and pressure sensors, which are used in IoT electronic measurement, industrial automation, infrastructure and other fields.
Founded in 1977, the company’s products include passive components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, transformers, relays, antennas, wireless components and circuit protection components. At present, Guoju is the world’s largest chip resistor and tantalum capacitor manufacturer, and the third largest MLCC multilayer ceramic capacitor and inductor manufacturer. The Group has approximately 40,000 employees, 51 production sites and 20 research and development centers worldwide.
In October 2023, the consolidated net revenue of National Giant was NT $9.062 billion, a decrease of 4.2% from the previous month and a decrease of 7.6 year on year; Cumulative consolidated revenue from January to October was NT $89.308 billion, down 12.5% year on year.
The acquisition of Schneider Telemecanique Sensors will be an important milestone for the company to further enhance its position in the sensor market, and will also be a major driving force for the company’s growth in high-end niche markets, enhancing the integrity of the company’s sensor portfolio. With highly complementary products and customers, the two parties can strengthen the channel layout of GOPU in the EU, leveraging GOPU’s many years of international acquisition and integration experience, and further deepen the close relationship with global industrial customers through the continuous expansion of innovative sensor solutions.
