The global 6G R&D has been fully launched and is becoming a new highland for a new round of technological innovation. On February 25th, at the “Meeting the Future -6G Collaborative Innovation Achievement Conference” held online by China Mobile Research Institute, 8 white papers on key 6G technologies were released, including multiple original Chinese technologies.

Gao Tongqing, Deputy General Manager of China Mobile, stated at the meeting that China Mobile will bravely serve as the source of original technology and the leader of the modern industrial chain, integrate into the overall 6G innovation work in China, and vigorously carry out 6G research and development work. China Mobile has established the Future Research Institute and established an innovative consortium with deep cooperation among multiple universities, increasing joint research and development efforts in basic theories, key technologies, and interdisciplinary integration technologies.
Zhang Ping, an academician of the CAE Member, said that Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications has maintained a good cooperative relationship with China Mobile, and recently set up the 6G Joint Innovation Center and Zhongguancun Innovation Institute to aggregate 6G innovation resources, cultivate 6G high-end talents, and explore a new paradigm of 6G innovation. I hope that China Mobile can further leverage the role of a world-class operator, unleash more research needs, fully integrate with the research advantages of universities, and jointly contribute greater strength to the development of 6G in China.
Cui Tiejun, academician of the CAS Member, said that information metamaterials have become a hot research technology of 6G. The biggest feature is that they can simultaneously process electromagnetic waves and digital information, simplify the communication system architecture, and even build a new system architecture. We hope that on the basis of the gratifying results achieved in the early cooperation between both parties, universities, China Mobile, and the industry will work together to accelerate the application of 6G basic research and original technology research, and enhance China’s 6G innovation level and international influence.
Professor You Xiaohu from Southeast University stated that recently, Southeast University and partners such as China Mobile released a prototype of a photogenerated terahertz system, achieving a transmission rate of 200Gbps for the first time internationally. The development of 6G cannot be achieved without the joint efforts of industry, academia, research and application. I believe that together with China Mobile and all partners, we will overcome the 6G problem, build a 6G ecosystem, and achieve more fruitful results.
Huang Yuhong, Vice President of China Mobile Research Institute, said that in promoting the development of 6G, China Mobile pays attention to the layout of cross-border integration technology research and collaboration in communication, and focuses on the coordinated development with new materials, new energy, and new technologies. Pay attention to driving and strengthening the shortcomings of industries, drive by demand, and use downstream industries to drive upstream, especially the layout of basic new materials, new processes, and new software industries. In addition, we will strengthen the layout of open source industries and promote model innovation.
At the meeting, China Mobile Research Institute collaborated with various innovation consortia to showcase 6G innovation achievements to the audience, including seven aspects: 6G vision, metaverse, 6G network, 6G air port, new platform, new devices, and new applications, covering 6G vision and requirements, metaverse technology overview, metaverse cloud 3D reconstruction, metaverse AR cycling, overall introduction of 6G network architecture, digital twin network, industry network digital twin, air space integration, channel measurement and modeling, intelligent metamaterials, 6G semantic communication system prototype, ultra-high speed visible light communication, photonics assisted terahertz communication system, communication perception integration prototype, 6G universal prototype platform, core There are a total of 17 collaborative innovation achievements exhibitions, including device verification and exploration, and digital twins.
