1. Tee Yih Jia, one of the world’s largest frozen food producers, digitized the power system at its new US $450 million plant in Singapore
2.ABB Ability™ Energy Efficiency management platform provides Tee Yih Jia with detailed and transparent energy data to help it save costs and reduce carbon emissions
3. Support food and beverage industry manufacturers in saving operating expenses and accurately allocating costs
Tee Yih Jia is one of the largest and most popular frozen food manufacturers in Asia, with its famous “Spring Home” range of spring roll pastries, roti canai, dim snacks and other Asian specialties popular and sold all over the world. Currently, the First Food Factory Limited (Tee Yih Jia) is working with ABB to implement digital energy management.
From a little-known maker of spring roll pastries in Singapore to one of Asia’s most successful global food brands today, Tee Yih Jia, the first Food Factory Limited (Tee Yih Jia), owes its success to its adoption of automated technology as early as the 1970s. At its new manufacturing facility in Senoko, Singapore, the company is continuing to improve energy efficiency and achieve cost savings through the use of data and Industry 4.0 technologies.
First Food Group (Tee Yih Jia) Chief Financial Officer Loo Wen Lieh said, “Quality, automation and innovation have made Tee Yih Jia a leader in the global food and beverage industry. Energy is a key factor in our products, costs and sustainability, so we are digitizing the energy infrastructure of our factories.”
Tee Yih Jia is working with ABB to apply the ABB Ability™ energy efficiency management platform in its new smart factory. ABB’s solution connects approximately 25 MW of power loads to the energy efficiency management platform through more than 200 ABB circuit breakers and digital power devices.
Loo Wen Lieh said, “ABB’s solution allows Tee Yih Jia to systematically monitor and track energy usage. From the shop floor to the boardroom, we have the same clear, detailed information we need to optimize our operating expenditures and capital investments and reduce our carbon footprint.”
Food and beverage (F&B) producers rely on a large number of energy-intensive assets such as ovens, heating equipment, air compressors and refrigeration equipment. A process such as an oven heating up can cause electricity demand to peak or even exceed prescribed power limits, resulting in fines. ABB Ability™ Energy Efficiency Management Platform – Online monitoring of AI capabilities provides data-driven forecasting that identifies peak loads 24 hours in advance, enabling users to adapt and reduce energy costs.
Atif Saleri, Smart Power market Development Manager at ABB Electric, said: “With rising energy costs and increasingly complex product portfolios, food and beverage (F&B) manufacturers are partnering with ABB to get the clarity their businesses need on energy data. “With the ABB Ability™ energy efficiency management platform, manufacturers can easily access the data they need through remote access to accurately allocate costs and reduce carbon emissions to specific products and identify cost savings opportunities in real time.”
The ABB Ability™ energy efficiency management platform connects the low-voltage power distribution system at Tee Yih Jia’s SAN Norgo plant to the cloud using Emax 2 smart air circuit breakers, M4M energy efficiency analyers and electricity meters.
