5G innovative industrial application scenarios
The industrial Internet is full of expectations for 5G. The 5G network known by the public is usually “you can download a high-definition movie a second”, but this is not the just need of 5G network. 5G has changed the application rules of 4G, 1G~4G is for personal communication, and 5G has expanded to industrial Internet and smart city applications.
According to Wu Hequan, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 40% of the potential value of cross-iot applications and nearly 60% of the potential value in some environments require interoperability. Industrial digitalization requires the networking of equipment in the factory, and the arrival of 5G provides a good means of interconnection for the Internet of Things.
China Unicom has created the industrial Intranet of 5G+MEC+PON and the industrial external network of the Industrial Internet Bearer Network (CUII). On this basis, the world’s first 5G industrial park and the first 5G fully connected factory in China created by Shanghai ComAC in collaboration with China Unicom and other partners are typical cases of 5G application in the manufacturing industry. Wang Shunli, deputy secretary of the General Party Branch of the Aviation Research Institute of ComAC Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Co., LTD., and minister of the Smart Factory Department, sincerely said: “In the past two years, we have really felt the industrial Internet under 5G technology.”
The application of 5G network in COMAC has innovated many application scenarios in industrial fields: Based on the characteristics of 5G large bandwidth, “5G+ big data +AI” technology carries out composite material defect detection, reducing the comparison blocks by 90% and personnel costs by 95%; Based on the characteristics of 5G low delay, the 8K vision inspection system of “5G+ cloud computing + machine vision” has increased the detection efficiency by 300% compared with the previous one; “5G+ cloud computing + machine vision” cloud binocular camera detection, so that the detection rate increased by 10 times, the quality inspection has a subversive change; The CNC fully connected factory built on the 24-hour “black light production line” based on the 5G large connection characteristics is nearly double the traditional processing efficiency.
“In the production process of enterprises, the most common problem is the connection problem.” Li Shaobin, assistant to the president and chief engineer of Gree Electric Appliances Co., Ltd. in Zhuhai, said, “Before 5G, we could not effectively solve many of the artificial intelligence needs raised by customers through the network.” The characteristics of 5G enable the industrial Internet and solve the critical device connectivity problem in the factory.
Li Shaobin introduced that Gree Electric Appliances’ Zhuhai factory has built 5G private network network architecture, and many applications based on 5G private network have helped Gree achieve quality and efficiency improvement. 5G+AR remote guidance and auxiliary operation application, through real-time video, voice, 3D marking, frozen images, etc. to the production line assembly personnel dynamic operation guidance, remote analysis of causes and rapid solution of problems, effectively reduce the occurrence of quality problems. High-density IoT in the factory connects to 5G applications, and realizes real-time data transmission of a large number of iot devices in the factory environment through 5G network, meeting the requirements of low-latency scenarios. The low delay and high reliability of 5G can meet the needs of Gree’s production line intelligent control and rapid dynamic adjustment, and achieve more flexible, interconnected and collaborative flexible production. The AGV car under the 5G network realizes the automatic and accurate distribution of materials across floors and workshops, and realizes intelligent logistics.
