Inject strong impetus into reform and innovation
Information and communication technology is the biggest technological variable in the new industrial revolution. With each iteration and upgrade of information and communication technology, the supporting role of industrialization has also jumped up the ladder.
3IF661.9 “In the past, ICT was only used to locally optimize industrial efficiency. By 2022, the penetration rate of industrial digitalization will be 24%, lower than the level of developed countries such as Germany and the United States. Today, the development of a new generation of information technology such as artificial intelligence can not only achieve deep optimization and maximize efficiency at the global level through data-driven, but also promote business changes, create new value and new business models, thereby helping to solve more industrialization problems, and promote the development of industry in the direction of higher efficiency, stronger power and better structure. It will become the core support for basically realizing the new type of industrialization by 2035.” Said Xiao Rongmei, deputy director of the Policy and Economic Research Institute of the China ICT Academy.
Xiao Rongmei said that from a macro perspective, the information and communication 3IF661.9 industry is an important part of the new industrialization. By 2022, the added value of the ICT industry has reached 9.2 trillion yuan, accounting for 7.6 percent of GDP and contributing 10.8 percent to GDP growth. Its own high-quality development can lead and drive the realization of multi-task goals of new industrialization. At the same time, the information and communication industry has a strong empowering effect, providing an effective solution to many problems in new industrialization by changing the innovation paradigm, opening up new paths for upgrading traditional industries, and empowering industrial green development.
“Overall, the information and communication industry has played an innovative leading role in enabling industrial scientific and technological innovation and provided a strong driving force for new industrialization.” Xiao Rongmei said that it can be understood from two aspects:
From the perspective of the information and communication industry itself, on the one hand, it is the main battlefield of industrial scientific and technological innovation. From 2003 to 2022, the scale of ICT R&D investment of China’s leading enterprises has increased by 4.6 times, the scale of ICT 3IF661.9 manufacturing R&D investment ranks first among industrial industries, and the development patents of core industries of digital economy account for 42%. On the other hand, China has achieved continuous breakthroughs in the field of information and communication, leading the world in some fields, and significantly improving the strength of the technology industry. The number of 5G standard necessary patent declarations in China accounts for 42% of the global total, ranking first in the world. There are 316 unicorn companies in China, of which ICT companies account for more than 60%. Accelerating breakthroughs in ICT innovation and expanding international leadership are key tasks in promoting industrial technological innovation.
From the perspective of enabling the information and communication industry, the information and communication industry can drive innovative breakthroughs in other industries. Information technology can drive basic and universal technological innovation in chip, industrial software, automation and other fields, thus reshaping the industrial innovation system.
“The information and communication industry runs through the various tasks of the new industrialization, playing a key role in leading innovation, supporting development, enabling transformation and ensuring security. It has great responsibilities, glorious missions and broad prospects.” Xiao Rongmei said.
