Betting on “Industry 4.0” has caused us to miss many opportunities
The years when the country was engaged in “Industry 4.0” were also the time when generative design began to be popularized. Back to the case of Airbus at the beginning of the article, at that time, the domestic professional media barely reported on it, and the limited number of articles focused on the support rod was manufactured with 3D technology. Because 3D printing has been described as a key technology in the era of Industry 4.0, we will pay attention to it.
8440-2116 At that time, Siemens launched the Create/Run myVirtualMachine module and integrated it into the latest SINUMERIC ONE platform, and since then the gene of the digital twin has been deeply embedded in Siemens’ software products. This feature is also revolutionary in the field of mechatronics product design, because it enables “semi-physical simulation” no longer requires mechanical components, the hardware only needs a controller, and can drive the movement of digital modes. It seems that motion simulation and configuration software can also achieve similar functions, but the essence is completely different.
The following video is the earliest digital twin product MCD (Mechatronic Concept Design). The control program of the digital model comes from hardware PLC or simulation PLC (SIMIT component). The digital model will also start the sensor during the movement process, and the simulation input signal is also transmitted to the controller hardware through PLCSim. Triggers the program in the PLC hardware to continue running. In this simulated environment, the physical properties 8440-2116 are also simulated, and the motion of the workpiece rolling and bouncing can be seen in the video. These simulated real-world actions can cause the turntable to clamp, allowing technicians to predict failure in advance.
My first contact with MCD was a presentation I heard in 2009 when I was a graduate student in Aachen, when the product was probably just finished and still being perfected. Just five years later, the digital twin has become Siemens’ most important concept since TIA fully integrated automation in the automation and numerical control systems market.
Unfortunately, blinded by “Industry 4.0”, we only saw Siemens’ CPS and IoT, and Chinese enterprises visited Siemens’ Bemberg Industry 4.0 demonstration factory in an endless stream, but did not explore the significance of the “digital twin”.
In my opinion, “generative design” 8440-2116 will revolutionize the manufacture of machine parts (and plant layout design), and “digital twins” will revolutionize the development of automated equipment (and production systems).
The US-Soviet high-tech rivalry has been repeated
If a technology is not commercially available on a large scale, then the Soviet Union’s planned economy is better suited than the United States to focus on big things. Once business value is evident in the field, market forces will crush the planning model. The so-called concentration of power to do big things is actually the government playing the role of venture capital, and venture capital is bound to fail sometimes.
Now looking back, industry 4.0/ intelligent manufacturing is a mistake, 8440-2116 many companies in order to take the national intelligent manufacturing subsidies, the elite will be pulled out to engage in automation, digitalization, enterprise cloud and so on. However, the most critical design and process has been ignored, and the 10 years of industry 4.0 May also mean that the design and process have been abandoned for 10 years.
peroration
Finite element simulation is no longer a new technology, but the European and American manufacturing enterprises have played the simulation out of a new pattern, on this basis have made topology design and generative design. The fourth industrial revolution must be the wide application of AI in the industrial field, just like the big language model war made by the science and technology giants now, the core competitiveness of the future manufacturing enterprises is also a digital model, and the name I also want to know is called “generative numerical computing artificial intelligence big model based on finite element simulation and genetic algorithm”.
