In its latest annual corporate responsibility report, TE Connectivity (” TE “), a global industry technology leader in connectivity and sensing, details the significant progress it has made in meeting its sustainability and social responsibility goals over the past year.
MVME5500-0161 Terrence Curtin, CEO of TE, said: “TE’s One Connected World strategy guides our path to sustainability. I am proud of what we have achieved so far and the smart strategy we have adopted to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Our strategy not only reduces carbon emissions, but also drives innovation and empowers our business with sustainability.”
Since 2020, TE has reduced the absolute emissions of both Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gases directly generated by the company by 72%. In addition, TE has committed to reduce “Scope 3” greenhouse gas emissions indirectly generated by its value chain: a 30% reduction by 2032 compared to the 2022 baseline.
Some other noteworthy developments in this year’s report include:
• 77% of TE’s electricity consumption currently comes from renewable sources
• A 46% reduction in hazardous waste disposal since 2021
The 30 plants located in water-stressed areas have reduced their water use by 11% since 2021 and will further achieve the target of reducing water use by 15%
Since 2020, 4.2 million people have been reached by supporting science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education programs
• Increase the percentage of female leaders to 28 percent
• Released the company’s first inclusion and diversity report
MVME5500-0161 TE’s greenhouse gas reduction targets, which have been endorsed by the Science-based Carbon Target Initiative (SBTi), will help combat global warming to avoid the most devastating impacts of climate change. The SBTi is a joint initiative of CDP’s Global Environmental Information Research Centre (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to develop emission reduction standards and define best practices based on climate science.
