According to the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics, industrial production above designated size increased by 4.5 per cent year-on-year in real terms in March. From a month-on-month point of view, in March, the industrial added value above designated size fell 0.08% from the previous month. From January to March, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 6.1% year on year. The added value of high-tech manufacturing increased by 7.5%, 2.6 percentage points higher than that in the fourth quarter of last year.
IS230STAOH2A By industry, in March, the general equipment manufacturing industry was flat year-on-year, the special equipment manufacturing industry increased by 0.9%, the automobile manufacturing industry increased by 9.4%, the railway, ship, aerospace and other transportation equipment manufacturing industry increased by 8.6%, the electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry increased by 4.8%, and the computer, communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry increased by 10.6%. Electricity and heat production and supply increased by 4.9%.
By economic type, in March, the added value of state-owned enterprises increased by 4.1% year on year; Joint-stock enterprises grew by 5.1%, and enterprises with foreign investment and investment from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan increased by 2.6%. Private companies grew 3.7 percent.
In terms of investment, in the first quarter, manufacturing investment increased by 9.9% year-on-year. Investment in high-tech industries grew by 11.4% year-on-year, with investment in high-tech manufacturing and IS230STAOH2A services up 10.8% and 12.7%, respectively. In high-tech manufacturing, the investment in aerospace and spacecraft manufacturing and computer and office equipment manufacturing increased by 42.7% and 11.8%, respectively. Among high-tech services, investment in e-commerce and information services increased by 24.6 percent and 16.9 percent, respectively.
