At present, the largest investment project of Wanke Group has begun to take shape, and the expansion of the international logistics center in Sundershausen, Germany, is basically completed. The 11,000 SQM logistics space and 2,000 SQM of new office space are scheduled for trial commissioning by the end of 2024.
No.1 The gateway to the world – the modern elevated central warehouse
AKM42E-EKGNR-01 The Group established a production plant in Sondershausen in 1990, and then a logistics center in 1999, which has been the global transportation hub for the group ever since. As a world-renowned supplier of electrical connectivity and automation technology, Wanke, after years of development, how to ensure sustainable logistics and a high level of delivery services to cope with the growing market demand. By the end of 2022, the Group plans to invest in a modern automated elevated warehouse to provide logistics and freight support not only for Germany, but also for subsidiaries in 80 other countries.
As of now, the expansion project is nearing completion, with an investment of more than 50 million euros, of which 25 million euros is intended for logistics technology and software. This investment ensures a high level of delivery capacity for Wanko, and once the new logistics center is completed, it will be able to handle up to 12,000 orders per day to meet the needs of future customers, future-proof.
No.2 Digital transformation and Sustainable construction
As with all Vanco’s new building projects, the new logistics center places a strong emphasis on energy efficiency and resource conservation, with an increased focus on the digital and automated transformation of logistics facilities and operations, including sustainable construction, insulation and efficient energy supply at the beginning of the project.
For example, an efficient power supply system will be built: the new building will be equipped with advanced heat pumps and solar energy systems for internal power generation. In collaboration with Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, vanco has planned building technologies using energy system modeling and simulation to completely avoid the use of fossil fuel stoves and gas interfaces. As a result, the new building meets the stringent KFW 40 EE energy efficiency standard, which requires that at least 55 percent of the building’s heating and cooling be powered by renewable energy.
AKM42E-EKGNR-01 In-house expertise played a key role throughout the development of the warehouse site. The new central warehouse combines Wanke’s years of in-house logistics expertise. Especially in an era of increasing digitalization and automation, this expertise contributes to the sustainable development of the site and provides long-term security for the future of the site.
New Logistics Center Events:
Sustainable construction without fossil fuels.
Fully automated elevated warehouse with capacity for 5,700 pallets.
An automated widget and shuttle warehouse with 80,000 container Spaces that can be expanded to accommodate up to 160,000 container Spaces.
