Building on Prophesee Metavision® event vision sensors and AI algorithms’ performance, power and speed advantages, developers can now build a new generation of edge AI machine vision applications supporting AMD platforms.
Shanghai, China, May 30, 2024 – Prophesee, a leading neuromimicry vision sensing company, announced that Its Metavision® HD event Vision sensors and AI algorithms now support the AMD Kria™ KV260 Vision AI Starter Kit, The combination of the two will accelerate the development of advanced edge machine vision applications. The partnership also marks the industry’s first event vision development kit compatible with the AMD platform. The suite will provide customers with an efficient platform to quickly evaluate industrial-grade solutions in areas such as smart cities, machine vision, security cameras, retail analytics, and more, and put them into production.
MKD090B-047-KP1-KN The KV260 Vision AI Starter Kit is a development platform for AMD’s Kria™ K26 System Module (SOM), built for advanced vision application development without requiring complex hardware design knowledge or FPGA programming skills. Suitable for edge AI applications, the AMD Kria SOM is production-ready, equipped with a large number of I/O interfaces, energy efficient and cost-effective to accelerate vision and robotic tasks. Combined with Prophesee’s breakthrough event vision technology, machine vision system developers can take advantage of the low latency and low power of the Metavision platform to create more efficient applications than traditional frame-based vision solutions.
Included in the kit is a breakthrough plug and play Active Markers Tracking application that supports 3D pose estimation at >1,000Hz, completely eliminating background interference at the pixel level. It also provides high robustness in complex lighting conditions. The application showcases the unique capabilities of Prophesee Metavision event vision technology, enabling a range of new ultra-fast tracking use cases such as game controller tracking, construction site security, heavy-duty anti-swing systems, and more.
In addition, more ready-to-use application algorithms will be rolled out in the coming months.
Prophesee Starter Kit is an “out of the box” development solution that allows developers to quickly get Prophesee Metavision SDK up and running, as well as the IMX636 HD event vision sensor Prophesee built in partnership with SONY. This enables the algorithms to be easily ported to AMD commercial and industrial SOM modules powered by custom Zynq™ UltraScale+™ multiprocessor system-on-chip (MPSoC), greatly improving development efficiency and system performance.
MKD090B-047-KP1-KN Chetan Khona, senior director of Industrial, vision, Medical and Scientific markets at AMD, said: “The Kria ecosystem is thriving, which is greatly enabling roboticists and developers to innovate in motion capture, connectivity technologies and edge AI applications. Prophesee event vision sensing technology offers unique advantages for machine vision applications. The small amount of data generated by event vision sensing not only ensures efficient operation of the system, but also significantly reduces the computational burden and memory requirements for a faster system response.”
Luca Verre, Prophesee co-founder and CEO, said: “By joining forces with AMD, we have created an efficient development aid that makes it easy to develop event-based edge applications. In order for developers to fully experience the unique benefits of low power consumption and low latency of event vision technology, we provide a full range of resource support, while creating a flexible development environment that allows developers to optimize machine vision systems based on specific KPIs for custom applications and use cases. This move will further accelerate the adoption of event vision technology in key market segments where Metavision’s unique strengths will drive innovation.
