With the increasing complexity of R & D documents, enterprises have an increasingly urgent need for collaborative documentation, often requiring structured definitions of various design/process documents, and supporting structured collaborative preparation in the PLM system to achieve direct online approval and delivery to downstream systems. This paper studies the management flow of structured document in PLM system, and verifies the feasibility of structured document management enterprise R & D document through its application in open PLM system.
1. Business requirements of structured document management

In order to effectively ensure the correctness of the document template and realize the collaborative compilation of document contents, some documents need to be stored and managed as structured data.
Structured documents are composed of headings, chapters, paragraphs and other logical structures. Structuring is to establish a framework for the document, and each part is closely linked to form a whole. Through the structured document management function of the PLM system, users can split documents into structured chapters and module objects for template management, collaborative compilation, permission management, signing, output, etc., to ensure the latest and consistency of documents in the PLM system.
2. Overall business process of structured document management
The common business process for structured documents is as follows:

Task assignment: When creating a document object, the document owner needs to reference the standard document template maintained by the enterprise and determine whether multiple people need to work together to compile the document. If so, the document owner generates a document compilation task based on the document directory and designates the responsible person.
