It is urgent to control fossil energy consumption and accelerate the construction of a new energy system in response to the frontier trend of emerging energy regulations in various countries. The new power system is an important component of the new energy system and the carrier to achieve the goal of “double carbon”, which has also become a hot topic in the field of power electronics. From June 13 to 15, the “2024 College Power Electronics New Technology Seminar” was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, focusing on the theme of power electronics and new power systems, and the development and challenges of the future grid, power electronics technology also brings new opportunities for energy management, and intelligent equipment performance improvement, helping data centers save energy and reduce consumption, and becoming an important support for industrial upgrading. The conference also announced that Professor Geng Hua and Associate Researcher Zhou Lidan won the honorary title of “Zhongda Scholars” in 2024, Professor Xu Qianming, Researcher Zhang Xin and Associate Professor Li Xuebao won the “Zhongda Young Scholars Award”, a total of 73 graduate students were awarded scholarships, and more than 400 teachers and students from 13 universities had in-depth exchanges with industry experts. It is hoped to promote the basic research and development of power electronics and new power system related disciplines, as well as personnel training.
IS420UCSCS2A Professor Li Zeyuan, foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and director of the Science and Education two programs, said that in the 1990s, the development of the field of power electronics really began, when the conditions of scientific research and teaching were limited, and power electronics talents were scarce. Since 1999, “Delta Power Electronics Science and Education Development Program” and “Zhongda Scholars Program” have been born, promoting the innovative development and talent training of power electronics related disciplines in universities, and exploring the establishment of interdisciplinary innovative research on power electronics and power electronic new power systems. The scale of university power electronics new technology seminar has expanded year by year, and has formed a greater influence in the industry. According to incomplete statistics, at present, China’s annual power electronics graduates account for about half of the world, in the international scope of conferences, China published about half of the articles, it can be said that China’s power electronics technology plays a pivotal role in the world. Thanks for the strong support of experts who have contributed to the development of the power electronics discipline in China over the years, and hope that the science and education program can help more universities in the future and continue to help the development of the power electronics discipline.
Zheng Chonghua, founder and honorary Chairman of Delta, said that in response to the climate crisis, Delta hopes to promote sustainable development through technology and help the Earth save energy and reduce carbon. We adhere to the goal of business development combined with sustainable development, with power electronics as the core technology, continuous improvement, to provide innovative, clean and efficient products and solutions for the world. At present, the mainland is comprehensively promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of economic and social development, accelerating the construction of a new power system with new energy as the main body, there will be a lot of power electronic equipment in the smart grid, playing an important role; In addition, vigorously promote the construction of modern industrial systems, advanced power electronic devices and system design, can provide efficient and reliable power solutions, ensure the stable operation of equipment, and reduce energy consumption, all of which require power electronic technology.
During the conference, the “Forum on Electric Electronic New Power System” was also held again, and three experts were invited to give special reports: Virginia Tech Professor Zhang Xiaosong gave a speech on “Power Electronics and Future Grid Technology Development Opportunities and Challenges – Power System 3.0”, Professor CAI Xu from Shanghai Jiao Tong University shared “Key Technologies and Applications of Main power source Landscape Station” and Director of Delta Research Institute Director Que Zhike’s report “Using Computer Resource Management Technology for Energy Storage System Management”.
IS420UCSCS2A Professor Geng Hua, who won the title of “Zhongda Scholar” in 2024, gave an award speech. It has been the 18th year that he participated in the seminar. Every year, he has gained a lot from attending the seminar, and deeply understood the educational concept of teaching students according to their aptitude, and the scientific research spirit of seeking truth and lifelong learning. The seminar is more like a kind of inheritance, thanks to the seminar to convey the serious and warm spirit of the power electronics discipline. Associate Researcher Zhou Lidan, who was also awarded the title of “Zhongda Scholar” in 2024, said that he has been following the footsteps of his predecessors, and finally won recognition today with the support of Professor Chen Chen.
During the conference, Delta also held a “Dream Building seminar” to provide advice on research development and employment directions for graduate students who have received Delta scholarships from 13 universities. Delta engineers and students shared industry trends, such as new energy vehicle technology, energy storage systems, data center power supplies and portable power supplies. Through their own work experience, Delta engineers encouraged the participants to grasp the hot spots and opportunities of the era such as “new quality productivity” and low-carbon environmental protection, and strive to improve their professional abilities and create a broader future.
Guests attending the seminar include: Professor Luo An, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering; Zheng Ping, Chairman and CEO of Delta; Ke Zixing, Vice Chairman of Delta; Zheng An, CEO of Delta; Guo Shanshan, Chief Brand Officer of Delta; Zhou Zhihong, Chief Sustainability Officer and Spokesperson of Delta; Zhang Jinfa, Director of Delta Design Center in Shanghai and Hangzhou; Tan Yizhong, General manager of Delta Dentsu.
Since 2000, in order to promote the development and personnel training of power electronics and new power systems in universities, under the joint initiative of Zheng Chonghua, founder of Delta, and Professor Li Zeyuan, an internationally renowned power electronics expert and foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Delta has set up “Delta Power Electronics Science and Education Development Program” and “Zhongda Scholars Program” to support university professors to carry out scientific research. Award excellent postgraduate and doctoral students. 13 universities, including Zhejiang University, Xi ‘an Jiaotong University and Shanghai University, have been invited to join. By 2024, 36 China-DA scholars have been selected, 29 China-DA Young Scholars have been awarded, and 351 power electronics scientific research projects have been supported.
