On June 27, during the 2024 MWC, the 5G Smart Factory of Midea Group’s home air conditioning Division in Thailand won the AMO “Asia’s Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough Award”, marking the lighthouse experience of Midea’s smart industry to the world, and the innovative application results of 5G+ industrial Internet have been highly recognized by the Asian industry.

Midea smart industry is derived from the accumulation of digital practical experience and technical capabilities of zero-carbon & Lighthouse factory, from self-reconstruction to external empowerment, covering green energy, intelligent manufacturing, smart logistics, smart buildings and other sectors, injecting transformation and upgrading power for industrial and other real industries, promoting enterprise cost reduction and efficiency, green sustainable development.

Leafing through the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s “2023 5G Factory Directory”, it can be found that nine “Midea” factories are listed, including Midea Wuhu Kitchen heat factory, Midea Kitchen Heat Handan factory, Midea washing machine Jingzhou factory, Midea household air conditioning Wuhan factory. Midea Group will copy more 5G factory experience to national and overseas factories. In 2023, Midea home air conditioning Thailand factory is Thailand’s national Green factory, and it is also a green benchmark factory combined with Midea’s smart industrial output.

The project is the first 5G fully connected factory in Southeast Asia jointly built by Midea Group, China Unicom, Huawei and AIS, the Thai operator. Previously, based on 5G technology, we successfully built a world-class lighthouse factory in Shunde Factory of Midea Dishwasher, and extended our experience and standards globally to replicate the construction of MIDEA’s 5G factory in Thailand, including more than 10 overseas 5G applications such as 5G+AGV, intelligent gathering, intelligent warehousing, and AI identification.

GESOUT-3 OUT-3B Taking 5G+AI visual quality inspection system as an example, through the laser sensor, the shape of the part can be identified and the position of the part can be located, and once the unqualified link is found, the production line will issue a warning in time. Through 5G+AI quality inspection technology, the input data can present quality indicators such as the primary installation rate and product defect rate, which improves the problems of long manual calculation and low accuracy before, and effectively improves the traceability ability of product quality.

Launched in 2006, the GSMA Asia Mobile Awards (AMO) is the most prestigious accolade in Asia’s connectivity industry, recognising individuals, organisations and partners across Asia who are making the world a better place through connectivity. The AMO is judged by the GSMA’s influential industry experts, and being shortlisted represents professional recognition in the technology sector. This award highlights the industry’s high recognition of Midea’s Thai 5G factory project, and Midea’s smart industry will also explore more application scenarios suitable for overseas enterprises to help overseas enterprises transform digitally.
