Vincennes charts, Vincennes videos, digital people anchors… Generative AI repeatedly brushes the screen, making people sigh that “seeing is not necessarily believing.” In fact, this is just the tip of the iceberg of AI’s enormous potential. In pillar industries such as industry, infrastructure, and transportation, the more “pragmatic and reliable” industrial AI is accelerating the seamless integration of the digital world and the real world, and the strength deduces “what you see is what you get.”
Today, Dr. Xiao Song, Executive Vice President of Siemens Worldwide, Chairman, President and CEO of Siemens China, attended the Industrial Development Plenary session of the 2024 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) on behalf of Siemens, and shared his unique thinking on “reshaping the future of industry with AI and turning imagination into productivity” at this world-class AI technology event.
Dragon TV reported Xiao Bo’s keynote speech at the WAIC.

PXIE-4082 Good afternoon, everyone! I am delighted to represent Siemens at the World Congress on Artificial Intelligence.
I believe everyone has experienced the beauty of generative AI. Vincennes diagrams, Vincennes videos, through a few words, can create a realistic, vivid image.
Imagine a day when AI generates not just a video, but an immersive, highly simulated virtual space that follows the laws of physics. With the help of AI, people can easily control complex tools and tasks and freely invent and create. Equipment and production lines in the real space can collaborate more efficiently and autonomously with the help of AI, turning the design of the virtual world into a “real thing.” In other words, using natural language, the average person can create any product he can think of!
What kind of wonderful experience would that be? Digital and physical worlds are more deeply integrated, and the gap between man and machine is bridged. Products that took years to develop in the past may appear in the future in a matter of hours or even seconds. Human creativity has been greatly released, and production efficiency has been greatly improved.
This is the “industrial metauniverse” that Siemens imagines. The explosive growth of AI will surely accelerate the realization of the “industrial metauniverse”, enrich the connotation of the “industrial metauniverse”, and ultimately reshape the entire industrial value chain!
As early as more than 50 years ago, Siemens embarked on the journey of industrial AI, accumulating deep experience in machine learning, visual intelligence, anomaly detection, knowledge graph, neural networks and other fields, and has more than 1,500 AI experts and more than 3,700 AI patent applications worldwide, ranking first in Europe.
We know that the industrial scene has many interactive links, large industry differences, high complexity, and low fault tolerance rate. In order for AI to move from consumption to industry, it is necessary to “deeply integrate industrial scenarios, open up the two veins of digital and mechanism, and achieve a leap in productivity with safe, reliable and credible industrial-grade AI.”
PXIE-4082 Siemens focuses on more than 40 key industries, serves more than 400,000 customers, and has accumulated rich field experience and industry Know-how. One third of the world’s factories use our controllers. Siemens is also one of the top ten software companies in the world. In the automotive industry, nine of the world’s top 10 vehicle companies use Siemens industrial software. These are the foundations of industrial AI innovation.
Not long ago, at Hannover MESse, we demonstrated the world’s first generative AI for Industrial environments, Siemens Industrial Copilot, which is based on Microsoft’s large language model and Siemens’ industry experience. Engineers only need to input natural language to generate complex automated code, greatly lowering the programming threshold and shortening development time. This tool is already in use on Schaeffler’s production line.
It is estimated that the global manufacturing industry generates about 1,800 + petabytes of data every day. How to identify and decode this vast amount of data is another major constraint for AI landing industry. Siemens OT/IT convergence technology enables the efficient collection and integration of multimodal data, understanding and application through models.
We are developing and training “Industrial Time Series Data Foundation models” based on 33 billion high-quality time series data from manufacturing, buildings, transportation and other fields for trend prediction, anomaly detection and other applications. In the future, we will join hands with more partners to accelerate the generalization and scale of industrial AI with the new paradigm of “basic model + intelligent application”.
While everyone is talking about “2024 is the year of AI scene”, a large number of AI and scene combinations have appeared in Siemens’ Chengdu digital factory. So far, we have implemented nearly 100 AI projects, the vast majority of which come from the innovation of front-line workers and technicians, achieving a five-year continuous reduction in factory manufacturing costs and a process quality of 99.999%. This is the mutual achievement of human intelligence and AI!
As Roland Busch, global CEO of Siemens, said on this stage three years ago, no single country or organization can achieve digital transformation on its own.
Entering the era of AI, only symbiosis can win!
Siemens has been deeply cooperating with Chinese and foreign enterprises such as NVIDIA to accelerate the layout of the industrial metauniverse. Two years ago, we launched the open digital business platform “Siemens Xcelerator”, which will become a “shared platform” for us to explore industrial scenarios with ecological partners from all walks of life, open up industrial data, and accelerate the process of industrial AI generalization and scale.
The innovation of science and technology has all the way promoted human industrial civilization from steam engine to electrification, automation, digitalization and intelligence. Today, we are on the cusp of a new industrial revolution.
Let us work together to leverage the infinite possibilities of the future with the great innovation of AI, realize the “industrial metauniverse”, and turn imagination into productivity!
