For more efficient automated production – M12 connectors for SMT
Some products in the Binder M12 series are available in versions for surface mount technology (SMT). On the one hand, these products have great advantages for space-limited design, and on the other hand, excellent automation performance makes production more automated and efficient, thereby reducing production costs.
As a leading supplier of industrial circular connectors, Binder has introduced the M12 Series of partial Surface Mount products (SMDs). It is particularly suitable for fully automated production processes, such as particularly dense double-sided assembly PCBS. Applications include automation, sensors, actuators, and robotics.

SMDs: Saves space and reduces production costs
In the process of miniaturization of electronic components, surface mount technology has proved its important role in the machining of highly dense components. In contrast to traditional through-hole technology (THT) and through-hole reflux (THR) processes, in the surface mount process (SMT), the SMDs pin is placed directly on the PCB board and welded with solder paste, without the need to insert the PCB for soldering. This leads to space savings, such as small distance welding of many connectors on a single plane, which is also required for passive/active sensor distributors in automation technology.
SMDs are usually provided to the customer in the form of a carrier tape, which facilitates further processing by the customer. In addition to saving PCB assembly space, this ability to automate production is a significant advantage of surface mount. Surface mount is cost-effective, especially for mass production or for installing multiple connectors on the same PCB board. In addition, heat dissipation and signal integrity are guaranteed during assembly, while errors are reduced.
SMT products from Binder
Binder’s SMT products are available in 4,6 and 8 cores with different positioning codes, including both shielded and unshielded versions. M12 connectors are also available in different versions, for example, flanged connectors with different housings, or embedded parts with on-load packaging for automated processing.
0100-71278 Specifically, these products include the M12-A coded connector of the 713/763 series; 715/766 series of M12-B coded connectors; 825/876 series of M12-D coded connectors; M12-X connector for the 876 series.
Based on the above different codes, the M12-SMT version connector is suitable for different applications: the A code is suitable for sensors and DC power equipment; B coding is suitable for fieldbus; The D and X codes are suitable for 100Mbit and 10Gbit Ethernet transfers, respectively.
All Binder M12 products will be provided with an IP67 industrial protection rating for water and dust resistance. All products are also designed based on current market standards for PCB openings, which will mean that users can replace Binder products without worrying about compatibility issues.
