Alleima has announced the release of its newly developed compressor valve disc steel Freeflex®Versa. As an upgraded version of Freeflex®Core, Freeflex®Versa offers superior fatigue resistance, residual compressive stress and wear resistance, enabling refrigerator and freezer manufacturers to design smaller and more energy efficient compressors. The launch of this innovative material will further drive the global refrigeration industry towards a more efficient and sustainable direction.
Alleima Stammer valve disc steels help meet new energy efficiency standards
1900/27-01-00 For decades, Alleima, a global manufacturer of advanced stainless steel and special alloy high value-added products, has been helping to achieve the latest energy efficiency standards for HVACR (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration) with innovative and leading compressor valve plate steel technology.
Building on the success of the Hiflex™ and Freeflex®Core series of valve disc steels, Alleima has carefully developed the Freeflex®Versa, a representative advance in valve disc steel technology, for the unique needs of reciprocating fully sealed piston compressors. Freeflex®Versa offers excellent fatigue resistance and wear resistance, and contributes to noise reduction and miniaturization of compressors.
At the International Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Conference at Purdue University, Alleima and Remmer will present the development of their newly developed compressor valve disc steel Freeflex®Versa; And showcase its ever-growing portfolio of valve plate steels to meet the needs of a variety of specific technical applications. Alleima is an innovative company committed to developing lighter, stronger and more durable materials to fulfill its commitment to energy conservation, emission reduction and sustainable development.
Dr. Anders Hoel, Senior R&D Engineer at Alleima, said: “Even a tiny piece of steel can have a profound impact. “Our high quality compressor valves give compressor designers greater design freedom, providing a great boost to the development and production of energy-efficient appliances and sustainable products.”
Upgrading materials promotes energy conservation, emission reduction and sustainable development
Compressor valve plates from Alleima are widely used in air conditioning equipment, heat pumps, refrigerators, freezers and clothes dryers, especially the new generation of Freeflex®Versa, which opens up new possibilities for improving the performance and efficiency of household and commercial appliances.
1900/27-01-00 Driven by multiple factors such as population growth, urbanization, improved living standards and climate change, the global demand for refrigeration equipment is on the rise. The International Energy Agency reports that air conditioners and electric fans account for about 20 percent of global building electricity use and 10 percent of total global electricity use. Therefore, the use of more energy-efficient refrigeration equipment is crucial. Alleima’s research shows that Alleima Hiflex™ helped improve the energy efficiency of air conditioners by about 18% over the 10-year period from 2012 to 2022. Today, the new Freeflex®Versa will further improve energy efficiency and contribute to global energy conservation and emission reduction.
