The Kongsberg RCU602 is a high-performance general purpose real-time process control computer designed for use in a variety of KM systems in onshore and offshore installations. The device uses the embedded Power PC™ architecture and can support single -, dual – and three-machine redundant topologies to meet the needs of different application scenarios.
The RCU602 features a variety of communication interfaces, including a dual Ethernet LAN processing network, a dual redundant network interface, and a dual field network interface, which make it easy to connect to third-party Ethernet field devices. In addition, the RCU602 features dual remote I/O process buses (RBUS), four universal digital input/output channels, and a watchdog digital output channel, enhancing its flexibility and reliability in field applications.
The device also has 24 serial lines that can connect to third-party interfaces via the RSER200 module, and supports two PROFIBUS and two CANBUS bus channels, further extending its application range. RCU602 complies with a variety of communication protocols, including Modbus, NMEA 0183, PROFIBUS/PROFIsafe and CAN, as well as third-party vendor-specific protocols.
The advantages of RCU602 are its extended built-in self-test (BIST), preparation for online remote diagnostics, simple firmware upgrade capability, and the ability to boot from a file server or local flash memory. In addition, it also supports hot swap, and can achieve dual and three-way HotStandby redundancy in redundant applications, as well as 1oo2 redundancy. The operating status of the device can be visually displayed through the LED indicator, including the running and error status.
In terms of technical data, the input supply voltage of RCU602 is 24VDC, the maximum current consumption is 0.75A, and the maximum power consumption is 20W. It also features redundant power inputs, power alarm monitoring, surge current and overvoltage protection, and an enhanced watchdog with fail-safe features and system status output.
