The Kongsberg RMP420 is a versatile I/O module designed for alarm monitoring and integrated control systems. The module fits into 32 field input channels in a single streamline topology and communicates with the master control computer (RCU) via a redundant I/O bus. The RMP420 module is certified for Ex Zone 2 (Explosive Zone 2) applications.
Key features of the RMP420 module include 32 software-configurable multi-purpose solid-state channels, support for analog and digital input and output (AI, AO, DI, and DO), and a 2 – or 3-wire resistance temperature detector (RTD). In addition, the module has 2 channels that can be configured as pulse/frequency/encoder inputs, and I/O loop power outputs for short circuit protection. The RMP420 also offers dual remote I/O processing bus interfaces for redundant communication with the host computer, and the communication ports are isolated from other module circuits for increased security.
Designed with ease of use and security in mind, the RMP420 module features overvoltage protection, extensive module diagnostics, online configurable I/O channels, software/hardware fail-safe, dual watchdog, and certification for use in hazardous zones Zone 2. It also features automatic recovery protection, such as automatically launching failure channels, simplifies the installation and replacement process, and supports easy and secure firmware upgrades.
In terms of technical specifications, the RMP420 has an input supply voltage of 24VDC (18-31.2V), a typical power consumption of 10W, and an I/O configuration of 32 multi-purpose channels, each of which can be configured individually. RBUS interface adopts 2×9 pin D-Sub, RS485, optical isolation, to ensure the reliability and security of communication.
The RMP420 module measures 355x158x87mm, weighs approximately 1.35kg and can be mounted vertically on DIN rails. Its design life is predicted to be about 38.5 years at GB 25ËšC and 10.4 years at NS 35ËšC.
