ABB has introduced the REF541KM115AAAA feeder protection Terminal, a protection, control, measurement and monitoring device specifically designed for medium-voltage power grids. The REF541KM115AAAA terminal offers a variety of functions, including power quality monitoring, protection, capacitor bank protection and control, and motor protection, enabling current-voltage measurement via current-voltage sensors or conventional CT and PT.
The feeder protection terminal adopts a 17×19 row large LCD screen, which is convenient for users to view and operate, and has the functions of protection, control, measurement, communication, power quality monitoring and equipment status monitoring. Protection features include phase-to-phase overcurrent and ground protection with or without direction, zero-sequence voltage protection, overvoltage and undervoltage protection, thermal overload protection, circuit breaker failure protection, and automatic reclosing. The control function covers local and remote control of control objects such as circuit breakers and isolation switches, as well as synchronous detection and status display.
The REF541KM115AAAA feeder protection terminal also features advanced power quality monitoring to monitor total harmonic distortion (THD) of current and voltage, short voltage surges, plummets and transient outages. In addition, the terminal supports fault location and is suitable for various types of power grids as well as different grounding systems, including low resistance/low reactance grounding systems.
ABB’s REF541KM115AAAA feeder protection terminal is part of ABB’s substation automation system and provides a comprehensive solution to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the power system. With its powerful set of features, the REF541KM115AAAA is able to meet the automation and intelligence needs of modern power grids.
