ABB recently introduced the REF615C-C feeder protection and measurement and control unit, a high-tech product designed for public and industrial power distribution systems. The REF615C-C device can be adapted not only to power grids with ungrounded neutral points, but also to power grids with grounded neutral resistance or impedance, providing a wide range of applicability.
The device comes in 12 standard configurations and can be quickly and easily combined to meet the application needs of different users. A key feature of the REF615C-C device is its support for IEC61850 communication standards, including Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) and High Availability Seamless Redundancy Protocol (HSR), which makes it excellent for interoperability and horizontal communication between substation automation equipment.
In addition, the REF615C-C device supports DNP3, IEC 60870-5-103 and Modbus® protocols, and Profitbus DPV1 via the SPA-ZC 302 protocol adapter, further enhancing its applicability and flexibility over multiple communication protocols.
ABB’s REF615C-C unit integrates a variety of protection features, including directional overcurrent, non-directional overcurrent, ground protection, as well as voltage, frequency and power quality protection and measurement. It also features a highly sensitive and selective multi-frequency admittance ground protection combination, as well as selectable advanced and fast short-circuit and ground fault location capabilities.
The launch of this device not only enriches the ABB Relion® 615 product family, but also demonstrates ABB’s continued innovation and leadership in distribution automation. With its comprehensive range of protection and control solutions, the REF615C-C unit provides strong support for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the power system.
