ProSoft Technology has introduced the MVI56E-MNETR, a Modbus TCP/IP client/server enhanced communication module designed for Rockwell Automation® ControlLogix® processors. The module transfers data between itself and the ControlLogix processor by using reduced input/output (I/O) block sizes, making it ideal for remote rack applications in ControlNet™ or EtherNet/IP™ process networks. It is also suitable for applications that require redundant ControlLogix processors.

Enhancements to the MVI56E-MNETR module include local and remote configuration and diagnostics via the module’s EtherNet port, as well as CIPconnect® technology, which supports bridging over Rockwell Automation ControlNet and EtherNet/IP networks. In addition, the MVI56E-MNETR module is backward compatible with earlier MVI56-MNETR modules and can be upgraded without changing existing ladder logic programs or module configurations, providing enhanced features and flexibility without incurring expensive reprogramming costs.

The MVI56E-MNETR module has advanced diagnostic functions and has a resettable communication module to ensure the reliability and stability of the device. It supports Modbus RTU, Modbus ASCII, and Modbus TCP/IP protocols, as well as EtherNet/IP protocols. The module provides high-speed data transmission capability up to 1Gb/s and is compatible with a variety of devices such as PLCS, Hmis, sensors, etc. It is suitable for a variety of industrial environments with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

MVI56E-MNETXT

The MVI56E-MNETR module is integrated with RSLogix 5000, allowing users to communicate modules in RSLogix 5000 using Example Add Component Instructions (AOI) or example ladder diagram files without additional programming and/or configuration software. In addition, the ProSoft Configuration Builder (PCB) software provides a graphical configuration tool to quickly and easily manage module configuration files while viewing communication and module diagnostic information. CIPconnect technology enables remote configuration and diagnostic access across multiple bridged EtherNet/IP and ControlNet networks.

ProSoft Discovery Service (PDS) is a software utility that finds MVI56E modules on the network and assigns temporary IP addresses for easy configuration. General specifications for the MVI56E-MNETR module include backward compatibility with previous MVI56-MNET versions, single-slot 1756 ControlLogix backplane compatibility, 10/100 Mbps automatic cross-detection of Ethernet configurations and application ports, user-definable memory mapping of module data, and more. Up to 5000 16-bit registers can be mapped.
