ABB recently introduced the PDP800, a high-performance PROFIBUS DP master interface module designed specifically for the Symphony Plus control system. The PDP800 module supports the easy integration of smart devices such as smart transmitters, actuators and intelligent electronic Devices (IEDs) by providing a connection to the PROFIBUS DP communication channel, which in turn leverages the information from each device for control strategies and more advanced applications.

The PDP800 module has several features, including support for PROFIBUS DP V0, V1, V2, the ability to link devices via DP/PA with native support for PROFIBUS PA, and the ability to connect PROFIBUS I/O modules and devices up to 15 km via fiber extensions.

In addition, the PDP800 supports full redundancy configuration to ensure high system reliability and availability, including full redundancy of modules, power supplies, PROFIBUS DP links and controller communication bus (HN800).
