Motorola’s MVME5101-0131 is a high-performance VME bus single-board computer designed for high-end applications such as industrial automation, military and avionics. The module features a Motorola PowerPC microprocessor with a processing speed of up to 400MHz and 64MB of ECC SDRAM memory, ensuring powerful data processing capabilities.
The MVME5101-0131 module is based on the Motorola Computer Group (MCG) PowerPlus II architecture and supports several PowerPC processor options, including the Motorola MPC7400 with AltiVec technology or the low-power MPC750. The architecture significantly improves memory performance by integrating PCI bridge-memory controller ASics, providing a memory read bandwidth of 582MB/s and a burst write bandwidth of 640MB/s.
The main features of the module include:
Dual 10BaseT/100BaseTX Ethernet interface for high-speed network connection.
Dual 16550 compatible asynchronous serial ports provide flexible serial communication capabilities.
32KB non-volatile random access memory (NVRAM) and real-time clock with replaceable battery backup.
Four 32-bit timers and a watchdog timer enhance system monitoring and control.
Onboard debug monitor facilitates system development and troubleshooting.
In addition, the MVME5101-0131 module features two IEEE P1386.1-compatible 32/64-bit PMC expansion slots to support additional functional extensions. The module also provides a 64-bit PCI expansion sandwich connector, allowing more PMC modules to be connected, enabling system expansion and customization.
The MVME5101-0131 has a wide range of applications, including but not limited to automated control systems in the petroleum and chemical industries, monitoring and data acquisition systems in the power industry, automation equipment in metallurgy and mining, traffic control systems such as railway signaling systems, medical equipment, and data processing and communication in military and avionics systems.
