ProSoft Technology recently introduced a new Modbus communication module, the MVI56E-MCMR, an enhanced Modbus master/slave communication module designed for Rockwell Automation® ControlLogix® processors. This module enables the ControlLogix processor to easily interface with devices using the Modbus RTU/ASCII serial communication protocol, including various instruments, process measurement devices, popular PLC brands, and Programmable automation controllers (PACs).
Key features of the MVI56E-MCMR include:
Dual Serial ports: The module has two independently configurable serial ports that can operate on the same or different Modbus networks.
Master/slave configuration: Each port can be configured as a Modbus master or slave, sharing a 5,000-word database controlled by the user.
Reduced data blocks: Data transfer with reduced input/output (I/O) data blocks, ideal for remote rack applications on ControlNet™.
Compatibility: Backward compatible with earlier MVI56 modules, it can be replaced directly without changing existing controller programs.
Diagnostics and configuration: The module is equipped with an RJ45 Ethernet port for commissioning and configuration, supports 10/100 Base-T transfer speeds, and has automatic cross-cable detection.
Rugged: Designed for stable operation in harsh industrial environments with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 60°C (32°F to 140°F).
The introduction of the MVI56E-MCMR module further enriches ProSoft Technology’s product line in the field of industrial communications, bringing new options to the global industrial automation market. The high performance and flexibility of this module make it ideal for the interconnection of equipment in the field of industrial automation.
