National Instruments (NI) today announced the introduction of the new PXIe-7846 module, a versatile reconfigurable I/O module designed to meet the needs of high-performance data acquisition and signal processing. The PXIe-7846 module combines analog input, analog output, and digital I/O capabilities with a built-in user-programmable FPGA that provides great flexibility and processing power.
The analog input part of the module supports eight channels with a sampling rate of up to 500 kS/s per channel, with 16-bit resolution and a conversion time of 2 microseconds, ensuring high-speed and highly accurate data acquisition. The analog output section also supports eight channels with a 1 microsecond update time and a maximum update rate of 1 MS/s for control applications that require a fast response. In addition, the PXIe-7846 provides 48 digital I/O channels and supports frequencies up to 80 MHz to meet complex digital signal processing needs.
The FPGA of the PXY-7846 module is based on the Xilinx Kintex-7 160T architecture, with 202,800 triggers and 101,400 lookup tables (LUTs), providing powerful parallel processing capabilities. The LabVIEW FPGA module enables users to customize the behavior of the FPGA to develop applications requiring precise timing and control, such as hardware-in-the-loop testing, custom protocol communication, sensor simulation, and high-speed control.
The introduction of this module further enriches NI’s product line in the PXI Express area and is expected to play an important role in improving test efficiency, reducing system complexity, and improving signal routing flexibility. The high performance and reliability of the PXIe-7846 module make it ideal for applications such as industrial automation, aerospace, communications and semiconductor testing.
