The annual Report on China’s Standardization Development (2022), released on Thursday, shows the effectiveness of local standardization, according to a press conference held by the State Administration for Market Regulation.
The standard level of activity in economically developed areas is relatively high. In terms of the number of published group standards, by the end of 2022, the distribution of the number of published group standards in each region presents a hierarchical feature. The top 10 regions are Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shandong, Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Hebei, Fujian, Shanxi and Sichuan. Guangdong and Zhejiang ranked first and second with 6,419 and 5,640 standards, respectively. Shandong, Beijing, Shanghai and Jiangsu ranked third to sixth with 2,941, 2,808, 1,820 and 1,669 standards, respectively.
By the end of 2022, the top ten regions in China are Guangdong, Shandong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Beijing, Shanghai, Anhui, Fujian, Hunan and Hebei, according to the distribution of “leader” standards for enterprise standards. Guangdong topped the list, with 918 standards entering the “pacesetter” list, mainly in electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing and general equipment manufacturing. Shandong ranked second, with 325 standards on the “pacesetter” list, mainly in electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing. Zhejiang ranked third, with 288 standards entering the “pacesetter” list, mainly in the field of special equipment manufacturing.
The standardized technical support capability presents the characteristics of one super strong and many strong. By the end of 2022, the National Committee for Technical Standardization had more than 30 secretariats in 12 regions: Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Shandong, Liaoning, Tianjin, Zhejiang, Henan, Shaanxi, Sichuan and Hubei. Beijing alone had 643 secretariats. Accounting for 48.75% of the total secretariat of the National Technical Committee for Professional Standardization.
In terms of the contribution capacity of standard development, the top ten in terms of the number of units participating in the drafting of national standards are Beijing, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Shanghai, Fujian, Anhui, Sichuan and Henan. Beijing, which ranks first, has 1,887 units as drafters of the national standards.
