At present, digital economy has become the main driving force for global economic development. Cloud computing, big data, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, blockchain and other new generation of information technologies stimulate innovation potential through data elements, accelerate the transformation of industrial operation system in the era of industrial economy, accelerate the transformation of resources allocation, production organization, business operation, innovation and collaboration, etc. Manufacturing enterprises are faced with the practical problem of improving survival and development ability in the era of digital economy. We will drive enterprises to carry out all-round changes in business organization, research and development design, production and manufacturing, sales and service, supply chain, human resources and other factors, and accelerate the realization of digital transformation. Xiao Yaqing, minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, pointed out: “For the development of the manufacturing industry, digital transformation is no longer a ‘choice’, but a ‘required course’ for survival and long-term development.”
“The 14th Five-Year Plan for Intelligent Manufacturing Development” pointed out: “Intelligent manufacturing is based on the deep integration of the new generation of information technology and advanced manufacturing technology, throughout the design, production, sales, service and other manufacturing activities of each link, with self-perception, self-learning, self-decision-making, self-implementation, self-adaptation and other functions of the new mode of production. Digitization is the basis of intelligent manufacturing. Enterprises need to adopt digital product design and process design software tools, digital equipment, build digital production lines, workshops, factories, and realize intelligent manufacturing. Therefore, intelligent manufacturing is the main direction of the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry. The full development of intelligent manufacturing will lead to the fundamental transformation of manufacturing paradigm, enterprise form and industrial model, and promote the realization of digital transformation of the manufacturing industry.
At present, there is still no research on the impact of intelligent manufacturing on the digital transformation of manufacturing industry. No matter from the theoretical system or industrial economy, it is difficult to have relevant data and research support. Therefore, we adopt the empirical analysis method, through combing a large number of practical cases of manufacturing enterprises, put forward the path and mode of intelligent manufacturing to promote enterprise digital transformation, in order to provide reference for intelligent manufacturing as the main direction to promote enterprise digital transformation.
01 Data Sources
The research data is based on 760 outstanding practices and typical cases of digital transformation in state-owned assets and central enterprises, and the development of intelligent manufacturing in more than 4000 enterprises is studied, and the status and role of intelligent manufacturing in enterprise digital transformation is analyzed.
The scope of cases includes scenario-level, enterprise-level, industrial chain level and ecological level, among which: scenario-level refers to cases involving the digital transformation of workshops, devices, regions or some production links of enterprises, accounting for 22% of all cases; Enterprise level refers to the digital transformation that basically covers the whole enterprise or business segment, accounting for 52%; Industrial chain level refers to the digital transformation involving supply chain, upstream and downstream enterprises of industrial chain, accounting for 13%; Eco-level refers to the digital transformation of eco-collaborative applications across enterprises and fields, accounting for 13 percent.
