Bosch Rexroth has expanded its linear shaft portfolio with the new SMS (lead screw Drive Module) ultra-compact ball screw assembly. This ultra-flat and lightweight linear module is ideal for simple positioning and handling tasks, making electrification cost-effective with high repeat positioning. Users can choose from five pre-defined sizes of 30-120 mm from the Rexroth online store and get off-the-shelf delivery. The product also offers optional motor accessory kits from different manufacturers, so that users can save more engineering time.

The new linear modules follow Rexroth’s consistent quality standards, offering superior cost performance and performance. The repeatability accuracy is up to ±0.005 mm and can be used in a wide range of different fields, including the consumer goods and packaging industry, semiconductor and battery production, 3D printing, automotive industry, medical technology and typical mechanical engineering applications, especially in low to medium dynamic applications of lightweight and small parts that are cost sensitive. SMS linear modules are also an effective alternative to pneumatic shafts due to low system cost and long service life.
The mechatronics module features ultra-flat and compact aluminum profiles with integrated precision rails. Internal components are protected by magnetically secured steel seals. The product range covers five customized sizes from 30 to 120 mm, and the travel range can reach 1,200 mm.
The new SMS linear module can be ordered with no additional calculation through the product online customization feature in Rexroth’s online store. To save more time during construction, separate accessory mounting kits are also available for common servomotors – flange and coupling or belt side drive. Customers can also choose from a range of Bosch Rexroth drive controllers and motors. All linear modules in the SMS series are available for off-the-shelf delivery.
