In recent years, Zhejiang Province has built batches of 5G fully connected factories, incubated distinctive 5G fully connected application scenarios, and achieved remarkable digital intelligence results, creating benchmarks for various industry segments. In order to accelerate the construction of 5G fully connected factory in Zhejiang Province, promote the “No.1 Development Project” of digital economy innovation and quality improvement, and promote the digital transformation of 5G enabled manufacturing industry in Zhejiang Province with high quality, Zhejiang Province recently issued the Action Plan for the Construction of 5G Fully Connected Factory in Zhejiang Province (2023 — 2025) (hereinafter referred to as the Action Plan).
We will strengthen infrastructure support for fully connected 5G factories
A 5G fully connected factory is an advanced factory that makes full use of 5G and other next-generation information and communication technologies to form extensive connectivity of production units, deep integration of information (OT) operations, full utilization of data elements, and efficient enabling of innovative applications. The Action Plan proposes that by 2025, the 5G and industrial Internet infrastructure development capacity of Zhejiang Province will be further enhanced, production lines, workshops and factories based on 5G fully connected will be widely connected, and a batch of 5G fully connected factories will form typical application scenarios within the “415X” industrial cluster. Guide and cultivate more than 5 provincial (county) 5G fully connected factory demonstration clusters, build 10 national 5G fully connected factory benchmark demonstrations, more than 50 classified, graded and distinctive provincial 5G fully connected factory benchmark demonstrations, cultivate and gather 30 5G fully connected factory service organizations, and become the national “5G fully connected factory” convergence application highland.
The development of manufacturing industry cannot be separated from information technology, and the digital transformation needs 5G capabilities. The action plan stresses the need to strengthen infrastructure support, further leverage the supporting capacity of 5G and industrial Internet as new infrastructure and integrate and innovate, and make 5G connectivity a network base for enterprises’ digital transformation.
First, we will build a high-quality 5G external network. Support basic telecommunications enterprises to continue to build high-quality 5G networks in industrial parks and industrial clusters, continuously optimize the breadth and depth of 5G network coverage, improve the overall performance of 5G network, improve maintenance and operation efficiency, and provide high-performance, highly reliable, highly flexible and highly secure enterprise network services. Meet the high speed, low latency, large bandwidth, and multi-scenario access requirements of industrial parks and enterprises.
Second, we will transform and improve the enterprise 5G Intranet. Support cooperation between industrial enterprises and basic telecommunications enterprises, build industrial Internet park networks, use 5G technology to transform enterprise internal networks, improve the 5G network capacity of production sites through independent private networks, hybrid private networks, virtual private networks and other network construction modes, promote the integration of information technology (IT) networks and production control (OT) networks, and enhance the networking level of all links of production. Drive the interconnection between various networks in the factory, and realize the comprehensive connection of production factors in the factory.
Third, build a business coordination system for industrial chains. Strengthen the network collaboration between 5G and industrial Internet platforms, promote the integration of 5G with new technologies such as edge computing, identity resolution nodes, IPv6, artificial intelligence, meta-universe and big data, support enterprises to rely on management and control platforms, accelerate the comprehensive integration of internal application systems, and open up the data penetration and business collaboration of the whole process of the industrial chain. It supports the collection, calculation, transmission and fusion processing of massive heterogeneous data of the industrial brain, and builds an integrated industrial chain business collaboration system of “cloud, network, edge, terminal and use” of the industrial brain based on 5G technology.
Fourth, support the deployment of enterprise nodes. Support enterprises to deploy edge computing nodes on the production site on demand, and connect with industrial Internet platforms and industrial Internet logos to meet enterprise needs in agile connection, real-time business, data optimization, application intelligence, security protection, etc. It will continue to promote the aggregation of internal and external capabilities of 5G edge computing, enhance the integrated collaboration capacity of “cloud edge computing”, accelerate the application of multi-access edge computing and other technologies in the industry, and help build a flexible and efficient intelligent manufacturing fully connected network.
