Johnson Controls cooperated with Shanghai Electric and Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange to jointly participate in the formulation of zero carbon industrial park standards, and jointly build a cooperative ecology of zero carbon industrial parks to promote the development of the industry
Johnson Controls actively works with local partners, and through deep cooperation with Shanghai Electric over the years, it helps China build zero-carbon industrial parks with its AI-enabled OpenBlue digital platform and innovative product matrix to achieve the goal of dual-carbon
On June 11, Johnson Controls, a global enterprise committed to smart, healthy and sustainable buildings, and Shanghai Electric, Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange jointly participated in the formulation of the “Zero Carbon Industrial Park Implementation Path Planning and Evaluation Guidelines” standard, and worked together to build a zero carbon industrial park cooperation ecology. The zero carbon standard was officially launched at the first Shanghai International Carbon Neutral Technology, Products and Achievements Expo, opening a new journey for Johnson Controls to cooperate with Shanghai Electric and Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange for a zero carbon future. With nearly 140 years of technology accumulation and innovative digital solutions in the construction field, Johnson Controls will lead the industrial transformation and upgrading, help China improve the industry standard of zero-carbon industrial parks, and move toward the goal of dual-carbon.

Anu Rathninde, President of Johnson Controls Asia Pacific, said: “Johnson Controls is committed to building a zero-carbon future, and we are pleased to partner with Shanghai Electric on the development of the zero carbon industrial Park standard. Through this close cooperation, Johnson Controls will continue to export its energy efficient product matrix accumulated in the fields of smart, healthy and sustainable buildings, the OpenBlue digital platform enabled by building electrification technology and artificial intelligence, and work with Shanghai Electric and Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange to promote the construction of zero-carbon industrial parks and add driving force to China’s sustainable development.”
Industrial parks are one of the main sources of urban carbon emissions, and generally have the characteristics of high resource density, high energy consumption density and high carbon emission density. The energy consumption of industrial parks accounts for about 69% of the total energy consumption of the whole society, and the carbon emissions account for about 31% of the total emissions of the country. Public data show that at present, there are more than 20,000 industrial parks across the country, and the growth rate of park economy’s contribution to the national economy has exceeded 30%. With the acceleration of the urbanization process and the improvement of people’s living standards, the energy consumption and carbon emissions of the park will continue to increase.
Steadily promoting the landing of zero-carbon industrial parks requires a complete standard system. Johnson Controls, Shanghai Electric and Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange jointly participated in the development of the “Zero Carbon Industrial Park Implementation Path Planning and Evaluation Guidelines” standard preparation will provide an executable and referable complete standard system for China’s zero carbon industrial parks.
Johnson Controls is committed to sustainability and is committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2040. Since entering the Chinese market for more than 30 years, Johnson Controls has paid close attention to local trends, relying on its keen insight into different industries and its own technological advantages, accumulated rich practical experience in zero-carbon buildings and zero-carbon parks, and actively promoted the construction of low-carbon green industries. Over the years, we have been actively working with local Chinese customers to support their smart and green transformation, including Microsoft Beijing West Campus, Beijing Urban Sub-Center and Guangzhou Taikoo Hui.
As a world-renowned industrial-grade green intelligent system solution provider, Shanghai Electric is committed to doing a good job of “energy management” through continuous scientific and technological innovation. Under the guidance of China’s dual-carbon goal, Shanghai Electric has built a “comprehensive” new power system and a “three-dimensional” zero-carbon industrial park overall solution for the main battlefield of energy and industrial carbon reduction. Relying on core science and technology to act as a “national heavyweight”, it will provide more possibilities for “deep carbon reduction”, empower global industrial development with science and technology, and create a better life for human beings. Ms. Leng Weiqing, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Shanghai Electric Group, led the cooperative ecosphere to launch the preparation of implementation standards for zero-carbon industrial parks.
Mr. Lin Jian, Vice President of Johnson Controls Global Manufacturing Operations Asia, said: “The concept of low carbon environmental protection and continuous innovation has always been rooted in the genes of Johnson Controls. We are deeply involved in China’s sustainable development and have insight into local needs. With our customized industry solutions and industry-leading product matrix, we will work with Shanghai Electric to better serve our local customers and industry partners.”
Johnson Controls and Shanghai Electric have been cooperating since 2015, and over the years, the two sides have actively worked on zero-carbon technology, green development and other fields. In the future, the two sides will continue to work together to promote green and low-carbon development, and deepen cooperation in the field of smart innovation in industrial parks and buildings, the development of energy-saving and environmentally friendly products, and new energy batteries. In addition, based on the common goal of improving energy efficiency and low-carbon and efficient operations, Johnson Controls and Shanghai Electric will also explore cooperation opportunities to build energy stations, low-carbon demonstration zones and urban transportation hubs based in Shanghai.
