Yu Yingjie said that the School of Mechanical Engineering of Shanghai University is the national first-class discipline construction main unit, is a multi-disciplinary integration of mechanical, electrical, measurement and control college, teaching and research covering mechanical engineering, control science and engineering, instrument science and technology, electrical engineering four first-level disciplines, has a post-doctoral, doctoral, master’s and undergraduate levels of all kinds of personnel training system. At present, the college has 406 faculty members, more than 2,200 undergraduates, more than 2,100 master’s and doctoral students. All four disciplines are ranked in the global top 300 soft sciences, and the ESI of engineering science is 0.67 per thousand globally. In recent years, with Shanghai University as the first leading unit, the school has won the National Award for four times, achieved the first prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Award for eight consecutive years, and the total scientific research funding has exceeded 200 million yuan for three consecutive years. The school has a number of excellent teaching and research teams in the fields of power electronics, industrial automation, robotics and intelligent manufacturing, and has accumulated a large number of innovative technologies, and continues to carry out original technical research. Shanghai University School of Automation and Delta have a long history of cooperation: Professor Chen Boshi of the School of Automation is one of the famous scholars and pioneers in the field of electric drive and electrical automation in China, and served as the executive deputy director of Delta’s “Zhongda Scholars Program” at the beginning of the program; Mr. Cheng Chung-wah, the founder of Delta, also contributed to the “Chen Boshi Education Fund” and set up the Delta – Chen Boshi Scholarship at the Institute. In the future, the College will carry out in-depth cooperation with Delta in promoting the integration of production and education and personnel training. This signing will become a new opportunity and starting point for cooperation between the two sides, promote the school and enterprise to work together, complement each other’s advantages, and achieve platform construction and talent co-education.
Mr. Liao said that Delta has actively invested in high-growth areas such as electric vehicles, smart manufacturing, smart buildings, information and communications, energy and microgrids in recent years. Delta spends more than 6 million yuan annually on research and development in cooperation with domestic universities, and the number of students is expected to increase to about 150 this year. Delta hopes to work closely with Shanghai University to jointly cultivate high-quality talents through the establishment of a joint training base. Delta will invite students from Shanghai University to visit Delta R&D Center and get to know Delta at close range. Summer camps are held to bring students face to face with Delta’s technical experts through a diverse curriculum; Develop an internship program to allow outstanding students to practice directly in Delta’s R&D department. Through these activities, students can understand the cutting-edge trends of industry technology, improve their disciplines and professional technical abilities, and attract people with lofty ideals to join Delta.
