On June 12, the “2023 Shanghai Trade Promotion Roundtable: ‘Zero Carbon Vision’ Chinese and Foreign Enterprises Roundtable Meeting” was successfully held during the first Shanghai International Carbon Neutral Expo.
The event was organized by the Shanghai Municipal Council for the Promotion of International Trade and received strong support from the Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission, the Shanghai Municipal Economic and Information Commission, the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and other government departments. The conference conducted an in-depth discussion on the opportunities and challenges in the path of low-carbon management and carbon neutrality of enterprises, aiming to further promote internationalization and market-oriented cooperation in the field of low-carbon development, in order to help global enterprises to promote the “zero carbon vision”.
Mr. Zhou Minhao, President of the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said in his welcome speech that he hoped to promote exchanges between Chinese and foreign enterprises, institutions and relevant government departments through this “Zero Carbon Vision” Roundtable, and further promote international cooperation and market-oriented cooperation in the field of low-carbon development.
Mr. Andy Wang, Chairman and President of Emerson China, was invited to participate in the conference and had in-depth communication with the government functional departments and outstanding corporate guests at home and abroad on Emerson’s low-carbon transformation path and future strategic planning, sharing the experience and achievements of corporate carbon reduction, and jointly promoting the green transformation of society.
In his speech, Mr. Wang Yifeng introduced Emerson’s business development and the environmental sustainability framework of “Green Action, Green Solutions and Green cooperation”. Emerson has made a serious commitment to achieve its net-zero goal: net-zero operations by 2030, 100 percent clean energy at manufacturing facilities worldwide, and a net-zero value chain by 2045.
Yifeng Wang, Chairman and President of Emerson China, said, “As a socially responsible company, Emerson has embedded sustainability into its corporate culture and promoted its low-carbon operations through green actions. In the communication with customers, we found the importance of automation technology for green and low-carbon transformation, and hope to help industry users develop sustainably through green solutions. At the same time, we attach great importance to exchanges and cooperation in the field of green sustainability, and promote the green transformation of society through extensive dialogue and cooperation with governments, research institutions and industry associations.”
Round table discussion
During the roundtable discussion on the company’s low-carbon transition path, Mr. Wang gave examples of Emerson’s low-carbon development initiatives under the sustainability framework. “Sustainability and low carbon development are an important part of Emerson’s corporate culture, and we continue to reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with Scope 1 and Scope 2 through our” Go Green.”
There are two main parts to the Green Initiative
The first is to reduce emissions by improving energy efficiency, such as the use of LED lighting, smart equipment in factories and other energy-saving measures.
The second is 100% clean energy. We are committed to sourcing 100% clean energy in all our offices and production facilities worldwide, including China, by 2030.
Combining the opportunities and challenges for enterprises to achieve carbon neutrality in the context of “dual carbon”, Mr. Wang Yifeng also introduced that in order to help energy-intensive industries achieve low-carbon transformation, Emerson is helping a number of innovative green technologies such as hydrogen steel making, lithium energy storage, and intelligent microgrids in industrial parks to land. Next, Emerson will continue to deepen cooperation with enterprises in Shanghai, jointly promote the development of hydrogen energy industry in Shanghai, and expand business cooperation in offshore wind power, biomass power generation, energy-saving upgrading of coal-fired units, LNG station expansion and other areas.
As one of the first multinational companies to locate its regional headquarters in Shanghai, Emerson has always adhered to the development strategy of “in China, for China”. In the current low carbon transformation of China’s economy and society, we will continue to explore innovative cooperation in energy conservation and emission reduction, relying on leading automation and digital expertise, effectively and efficiently help all walks of life to achieve green transformation, contribute to China’s high-quality development, and jointly go to the “zero carbon vision”.
