The 1756-EN4TR module is a ControlLogix series controller module that has been manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. This controller module is made for the Ethernet/IP network. The 1756-EN4TR controller module can be used in a control system that has a star topology or a DLR topology. This controller can be used as an Ethernet/IP bridge device that uses copper media and has an embedded switch. It can handle communication rates of 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, or 1 Gbps, and it can handle integrated motion on up to 256 Ethernet/IP network axes. The 1756-EN4TR controller module has SNMP support, but note that this requires a password.

The packet rate capacity can be 50,000 packets per second without CIP security, 25,000 packets per second with integrity, and 15,000 packets per second with integrity and confidentiality. Some of the key applications for the 1756-EN4TR controller module include applications controlling I/O modules and drives, working as an adapter for the I/O on remote Ethernet/IP links, communicating with HMIs and other Ethernet/IP devices, and applications bridging Ethernet/IP links in order to route messages to devices that are on other networks. It supports redundant adapters. The 1756-EN4TR controller module can be used in the explicit protected mode when required, and this mode does not allow any configuration changes to be made to the module while it is active.
